Wow. What a deal. I would take Neal over Goligoski straight up. Include Niskanen, and it's a slam dunk for me.

Huh, strange deal. I wouldn't have parted with Neal to do it, but Goligoski is a damn nice D-man, I don't mind that addition. He's on pace for 42 points, but he can do a lot more than that if Crawford lets him.

Neal's a stud though, strange days.

I think everyone here is undervaluing Goligoski. He is very good offensively from what I have seen this year. I think Big Ev watches alot of Pens games, so if he could give a scouting report on Goligoski, it would be appreciated.

goligoski looks great too. but neal fills a need on the pens.

Goligoski is a good puck-mover, has good speed, and has a pretty damn good shot, but he is below-average defensively IMO (although he has gotten better than last year, when he was referred to as Goal-against-ski) and he gives the puck away a lot. From what I have seen of him, he is really good at entering the zone and has a really good point shot on the PP. That's where he should help the Stars the most. He is better than any D the Stars have had for the last little while (after Zubov). He is also a streaky d-man (production-wise) who is a little on the fragile side too. He was said to have more upside than Letang until this season rolled around.

A ton of Pens fans just flat out hated the guy though. Getting Neal for him is amazing.

Christmas just came early for Neal, or late depending on how you look at it.

Hard to see this deal as anything other than a Pittsburgh win. I can't believe they got another offensive defenseman back in the deal. Did they just add Neal for nothing? I realize Goligoski is much better than Niskanen, but the Penguins essentually gained Neal for a small downgrade on their 1st PP and upgrade of their 2nd.

I'm shocked.

Up until this year, he's been primarily a PP specialist because he's so bad in the defensive zone. This is a steep price to pay to get him. Kudos to Shero for getting this return.

I hope Nieuwendyk is still there when Wiercioch will be in his rookie season, we might get Loui Eriksson
