They've got to be close to hitting the panic button. I know Bobby Mac said that even with all these injuries on D, he doesn't think they'll be in the market for a D-man, but if things continues and the losses start to accumulate, they just may want to pull the trigger on something and hopefully Murray will be there to help them out.

A few of those injuries aren't super long-term and if they keep winning it should be good. Too bad for us. Laugh1

Yeah they (VAN) expect guys back in time for playoffs... problem is, if they don't or they lose too many games and fall out of contention, they are screwed (I don't even know if that is a possibility).

If they get Phillips and then by playoffs everyone is healthy, what do they do? Thye might be penalized for being over the cap? Someone becomes a casualty of numbers?

It's got to be at a point where they will jeopardize their chances of a deep playoff run without bringing some guys in right? I mean look at the list of guys out.

D Dan Hamhuis (concussion), D Alexander Edler (back), D Keith Ballard (knee) and now Bieksa.

Cap is only in play during the regular season and during the off season. Players are not paid a salary during the playoffs. Even a healthy team can never have too many D men. Phillips is a great insurance policy to have and can bump some younger less experienced guys down the depth chart. It's always a good thing to have that kind of "problem" heading into the playoffs IMO. It's still a very big IF in terms of the Canucks having a fully healthy D in time for the playoffs. It also allows them to give the D proper healing time and not rush them back and force them to play hurt too.

I didn't realize that. Good to know.
