It's a risk you take when you, yes invest in your seats, because the value could go up or down depending on the season. If they're having a great season then no discounts are offered and selling your seats at a premium is always a possibility. I'm sure Scalpers would agree they're an investment.

There are benefits to having season tickets (e.g. your specific seats, discounts at the sens store, etc). I don't sell my tickets very often so for me I enjoy knowing I have the same seats in a great location. Sure the discounts are hard to swallow at times but season ticket holders also get discounts for buying a half season or full season package. We don't pay what the general public pays for either the tickets or parking. If they drop the prices to crazy lows then sure I am probably paying more. At the end of day each person has to decide why they are buying tickets. For me it is because I love the game, love the Sens, want to support my team, and I enjoy the season ticket holder perks I get (e.g. meeting the players) and I like having the same great seats for each game.

I agree with you it's just hard to detach yourself from it at times.
