Pierre Dorion saying the player who will be the best when he is 22-23 years old is higher on their list so I am guessing potential is N1 priority, and the physical advantage now won't be a factor on who we're gonna take.

It might make more sense for them to be listening this year. They have the youth in place, maybe this is the year that they milk another team for some veteran talent. Jeff Carter's NTC doesn't kick in until 2012, correct? Trading Carter (+?) for Edmonton's FRP would make sense for both teams.

No it absolutely doesn't. Anything with Carter as a centerpiece in exchange for the 1st overall by the Oilers is dumb and is the same reason Spezza to Edmonton makes no sense despite their need for a center.

No it absolutely doesn't. Anything with Carter as a centerpiece in exchange for the 1st overall by the Oilers is dumb and is the same reason Spezza to Edmonton makes no sense despite their need for a center.
I guess it wouldn't address their need at D, either. Now that I think of it, it made far more sense for Philly than for Edmonton.

And that contract is a huge risk, only a desperate team like Columbus or the Laffs would be silly enough to take that risk on.
Murray should be patient, work his magic at the draft, maybe make a low risk UFA signing and see how the team does this year before "buckling up and going all the way" again.

We're not doing anything except perhaps a 'soft trade' for Versteeg or someone of the like or moving up the draft. No big trades!
