Larsson won't go 1st overall, and no, Colorado would draft RNH.

Can't look a gift RNH in the mouth IMO. Plus, Colorado is in the same boat as Florida who's in the same boat as Ottawa and NYIsles - we all need skill, not necessarily grit. Florida NEEDS a guy they can market around - Huberdeau IMO or Couturier - either or. The Isles need a guy like Hamilton to solidify their D core. The Devils really don't need another LW, unless they're making Lando play C, they might be better off with Zibby.

It's not like Ottawa can afford to skimp on skill, but Lando is such a perfect fit that I think we take him at 6 - although...Couturier/Huberdeau/Zibby all seem like the better skill picks with Strome right there as well.

well, despite my thoughts yesterday it absolutely sounds like if they can't get their guy in Landeskog they are 100% going to go with the homerun pick in Strome.

The Sens best chance at grabbing Landeskog is to flip picks with NJ who will by the sounds of things either go with Zibanejed or Murphy, both of who seem to fit into an NJ system perfectly looking at their positions.

If that happens, it would look like:

1.RNH
2.Larsson
3.Huberdeau/Landeskog/Couturier
4.let's say Murphy
5.Couturier/Landeskog/Huberdeau
6.Landeskog/Couturier/Huberdeau

right? All we need is one team to take Murphy, Zibby or Hamilton and we're in on one of Couturier, Huberdeau or Landeskog - whoever's left over - and there will be one left over at 6 for sure in this scenario.

I honestly don't think it's between those 3. It's Landeskog then Strome. If The Sens end up with anyone other than one of those two at the draft, I will be very surprised.

If Landeskog, Huberdeau, Couturier and Strome are all there, you think it would be Landeskog then Strome out of those guys?

PKC caught this:

At 1:27 if you pause it perfectly, you can pick out the guys we have ranked from the WHL:

http://www.ottawacitizen.com/sports/Video+Senate+Reform+Road+Draft/4900227/story.html

I didn't believe, but I got it to happen:

I take it back, you have to pause it perfectly to get a glimpse, but you can certainly see Ryan-Nugent Hopkins, then someone ending with hi, so Bertschi, ens - so Siemens, then ll, so McNeill, then ro, so Morrow.

They like all 5 guys, it's pretty clear or else they wouldn't waste their time inviting them to Ottawa.

Strome over Couturier, Landeskog and Huberdeau? I don't believe that for a minute.

Nah I don't think over Landeskog or Huberdeau, but I think that they know they won't get Huberdeau.

Couturier vs Strome, who knows, they got to meet them today and judge. Strome is a little more cockier and flashier while Couturier is shy and introverted, which isn't a bad thing.

and then there's Maude....I mean Mika.

I kinda liked that video, we don't know who they like the most but we can guess who they are talking about. When Tim Murray says somehting like "haven't heard about the off ice stuff but on the ice he is a special player", I am 75% sure it's Ryan Strome. He's the only guy in that top 7 that I have heard has character questions with dazzling offensive skills.
They guy who played with an edge last year and not so much this year is probably Couturier.
The defenseman at n 7 (probably in the WHL or OHL) who will be a 4-5 at best, not really sure.
Etc.

Pierre Dorion saying the player who will be the best when he is 22-23 years old is higher on their list so I am guessing potential is N1 priority, and the physical advantage now won't be a factor on who we're gonna take.
And they definitely don't care about Russia Laugh1

Well, all it's gonna take is a surprise pick here or there and we may have a nice surprise on our hands even at 6th...

Yes sir. Either Murphy in the top 5, Hamilton in the top 5, Zibby in the top 5, Strome in the top 5. Any of those = big time good news for the Sens. A combination of 2 of those and the Sens are assured a HUGE player without having to trade up.

Best is the wrong word for this, but funniest moment of the video was definitely Burda talking about scouting in Russia, lol.

It was so off-hand, almost forgotten. You can tell that as long as this scouting staff is around we're going to stray very far away, lol.

I think they should still consider Russians in the CHL though, as they were interested in Burmistrov last year.
