Too bad Huberdeau is going to the KHL:

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=367173

I can't believe that a KHL team wasted the 6th overall pick on someone who would clearly never go there!

This has been discussed already -- see above.

Actually from what i've read in a few places I think NJ will not pick a D-man. the team is lacking some quality D-men at the moment but I've read they have more good D prospects then forwards prospects. I think Lando can go anywhere between 2nd and 5th. probably not lower. I could see Larsson being the only D-man being picked in the top 5.

If BM can't trade up would he then trade down? would he take Strome with the 6th pick? would he make a blockbuster trade with our pick? Or take a D-man....

Yeah, IMO 99% of Sens fans fell head over heels for Lando and his perfect replacement for Alfie characteristics.

Strome would be a nice choice for the Sens. Legitimate 30 goal potential, his playmaking needs a little polishing, but he's got potential to hit 70 points in the NHL IMO. I've tried to research what ID's fans say, scouts, reliable people on the net because I think he'll be the guy when we're ready to pick - although, I could easily see one of the Isles or the Devils taking Murphy or Hamilton - or even Columbus moving up to take Murphy. We'll see I guess...

I wouldn't be shocked to see Detroit try to swoop in and grab Murphy somehow. I think they Wings sign Kaberle and/or Ehrhoff and make a solid push for a young defensive prospect whether it be through the draft or via trade.

As for Strome, I wouldn't mind him, but yeah, Landeskog has been sold to the Sens market; so has Couturier and anyone that knows hockey knows that Huberdeau would be a good pick. I think we're in good shape as long as we don't pick a defenceman.

They don't need Murphy, they have a better prospect waiting in the wings (pardon the pun). Brendan Smith.

We should draft Cizikas if he goes back into the draft

Wasn't he drafted by WAS? I'm sure a signing is imminent there.

He was drafted by the Isles, but if they don't sign him he goes back into the draft.

I expect they will sign him. He's been a little busy these past few weeks, and you can't blame him for waiting until his season is over to try and raise his asking price in bonuses. Plus Tavares was in town and they know each other and I am sure they were talking business.

I have read that it is unclear whether or not they will sign him, and he hasn't ehard anything from the team.

Nevermind, he's signing a deal soon. As per Chris Botta

Casey Cizikas needs to be signed by the end of tomorrow, June 1, and that’s exactly what will happen. Multiple sources confirm that the Team Canada workhorse and captain of the OHL and Memorial Cup finalist Mississauga/St. Michael’s Majors will be signed by the Islanders to his three-year Entry Level contract in the next 24-36 hours. The happy offseason continues for the Islanders, who will have another one of their top ten prospects in the fold.

interesting. and that's by invitation I inagine? Zibanejad is an interesting name in there. We probably won't pick him unless we move that 21st overall into a 10th overall. He might higher then that. Huberdeau... I hope and cross my fingers it's not just wishful thinking.

So...they're not trading up to 1 or 2 and we deem Murphy as redundant (although, he's awesome), but....they're gonna have a chat with Hamilton, a 6'4" hard-hitting puck mover to complete the fearsome foursome.

Imagine:

Cowen - Karlsson
Hamilton - Rundblad
Phillips - Gryba

In a few years... Ahhhhh!

Or they just want one of Huberdeau, Landeskog, Couturier or Strome which makes more sense.
