I'm not sure if will climb any more than 1 or 2 spots but it wouldn't surprise. Hell it wouldn't surprise me if Ottawa took him. Who's our Swedish scout now?

Well, the best bargining chip Ottawa has at this point is Rundblad. I am sure Colordao scouts have had a very good look at him as Larsson is on the same team. If you could swing Rundblad and a 2nd for that number 2 pick, you should do it pretty close to 100% of the time.

I have no idea if that's the case but it's just something new to talk about.

I don't know if I (or the Sens) would do that to be honest. Rundblad is their current prize pony.

I doubt that'll happen, but it seems like a somewhat reasonable deal, Neely.

I have no idea and I don't know who they would value higher, Landeskog or Rundblad, that would basically what it comes down to if you are Murray and The Sens.

What we know for sure is Karlsson is an NHL all-star playing the right side.
We know Ottawa is extremely deep and young on the blueline, especially the right side
We have Gonchar for now and seemingly 2 more years playing the right side.
The top end forward depth in Ottawa is lacking.

To me, if you can move Rundblad who is more NHL ready than Larsson right now, a better player right now, and could have more potential (I haven't seen enough of either to make the judgement), and get 2 super high end forwards in Landeskog and Strome, add in a wild card with Nashville's pick, The Sens instantly become deep everywhere in the organization. To me, that makes sense.

Hell I'd pick Larsson if they traded Rundblad, then would try to trade up with the 6th pick to get Landeskog Smile

Or I don't even know if that's needed. I think FLA would have to go with RNH, then NJ and NYI should go with d-men or Couturier.

Like I said above, Ottawa's blueline is extremely deep and probably the deepest in The NHL in terms of the right side. Karlsson, Lee, Gonchar, Carkner, and Gryba. That has every eliment you could ask for in temrs of D men.

You move Karlsson and the fanbase riots. Moving Lee now would be ill-advised because he is looking like a very capable shutdown D man. Gonchar well, w/e. Carkner fills a roll and a need as the 7th guy. Gryba is very close to be in the NHL. Rundblad for better or worse may be overkill despite his high end skill and limitless potential.

If Murray could turn Rundblad into that 2nd overall, the trade is basically the 16th overall last year for the 2nd overall this year (Landeskog). Not bad asset managment.

Like I said, Murray would have the chance to turn the big weakness in the organization (high end forwards) into a strength in literally 10-15mins. Larsson should be a nice player but I would still take Landeskog over him.

Well Murray could have done that last year (Tarasenko etc.) so I don't see the point in trading Rundblad for a forward now.

If Tarasenko wasn't Russian, sure. He should have been a top 5 pick and dropped because of that. Murray also stated that a D man could be moved for a forward in the future. All he wanted at the time was the best player he could get with that 16th overall pick and besides a Russian, there was no one near Rundblad's level at that point.

Landeskog vs Rundblad... I would say it's pretty even but they need Landeskog way more than they need Rundblad.

Eh I'd rather keep the pick and look to trade Wiercioch instead.

Sens really don't have anyone on the left hand side that will contribute on the offensive side of things. Wiercoich could be that guy.

Again, the right side in Ottawa is stacked to say the least.

I could see them trading Lee. His value is at its highest right now and I don't see him getting any better than this. Plus he was not a Murray acquistion so maybe Murray doesn't feel attached to hmi as he does Cowen, Karlsson, Runblad, Gonchar, Kuba, etc.

...but you're not suggesting Lee would/could be included in a deal for moving up to a higher first rounder?

A Fin I think. It would surprise me if we took him at 6, but not to the point where I'd be in shock. I could see us trading down to nab him + get an extra 2nd, but that's risky business.

Keep Rundblad and wait to see which of him or Karlsson becomes better. In my mind, the odds are good that Karlsson is traded for a young, impact forward in a few years - Sens' fans can riot all they want.

Do you actually see that happening? It would be nice to have two offensive studs on the back end, not just one.
