Kvitova was on fire, and is a beast. She won Wimbledon 2 years ago, whereas Genie is in her 2nd year as a pro. Genie will be back!!!!!!!

... and in greater numbers.

She needs to go to the net more. Lost a few points where she put the ball deep in a corner only to have Kvitova miraculously bit it back across to the opposite corner. If she goes to the net on those she likely wind the point because there isn't anywhere else Kvitova can play the ball and still keep it in-bounds.

I see she picked up Coca Cola as a sponsor. That was very recent. Must be tough trying to concentrate on playing while signing new contracts.

Tough game for Genie. Kvitova played like a beast. Lots of great things to come from Genie. Next up... the US Open.

GO GENIE GO!!!

Kvitova played like she's been there before Smile

Interesting how the ovation was noticeably louder for Bouchard than the winner. She's going to make so much money! Pinty's for everyone!

Was watching The Fall on Netflix. Good show. But S1 is done after five episodes and S2 has not aired yet, and they didn't solve the case. Now I know how fans of The Killing felt at the end of season 2.

Speaking out which, The Killing is back for a final S4 as a Netflix show in August. You can catch up on seasons 1-3. Pretty good.

I watched the exact same 2 movies back to back as well.

Gravity was awesome, with only two actors.

Catching up on some movies I saw when I was young -- this was one of my favorites:

Love that opening credits tune.

And, of course, if you talk of Soviet film you can't ignore White Sun of the Desert (by tradition cosmonauts always watch this movie the day before launch). Great song in there (Vashe Blogorodiye) that I've never seen translated properly.

Should have watched it in theaters in IMAX 3D. Best thing I've ever seen on big screen. I felt like I was there with them.

Agreed. It was insane.

I'll tell you what I'm *not* watching, the Emmys. Tatiana Maslany wasn't even nominated for Orphan Black. Fantastic acting.

Seriously though, unless you've watched every single show on Earth how can anyone really say who deserves to get nominated over who?

Because she's actually *won* the Critic's Choice award two years running, and she didn't even get a nomination from the Emmys committee -- the people who do this for a living are outraged (or would be if this was something new).

The Golden Globes winners don't always win the Oscar, but at least they are nominated (for the most part -- Streisand got snubbed a couple of times when she was nominated for the GG as best director for Prince of Tides, which won the Best Picture Oscar, yet she wasn't even nominated as Director; and she won the Best Director GG for Yentl and, again, was not even nominated for the Oscar).

It's likely because Orphan Black is more of a cult hit show versus a legit heavyweight.

That said, we know Tatiana is a winner where it counts...in our hearts. And she's Canadian too!

R.I.P. James Garner, he passed away at 86. Just a few days ago I was trying to introduce the boys to one of the best early '70s shows -- The Rockford Files. It's surprisingly well-preserved on Netflix (especially once I adjusted the TV aspect ratio from "full" to "pass-through" -- wasn't me who did that).

Went out to see J Timberlake. Too much talent this mofo has. And about the only pop superstar who doesn't look like a douchebag

One of the best SNL hosts around. Great in pretty much all of his skits.
