I got Christmas Vacation in my stocking. Just watched it. Wow, I forgot how much swearing there was in this one. Not *that* much, but when you're watching it with your 10-year-old girls you tend to notice a lot more of the colorful language. Still has one of the insult lines when Clark skewers his boss:

... I want to tell him what a cheap, lying, no-good, rotten, four-flushing, low-life, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-sucking, dog-kissing, brainless, dickless, hopeless, heartless, fat-assed, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped, worm-headed sack of monkey Dung he is!

Yeah, I saw that. I actually ended up getting a second-hand copy for less than that, signed up for Amazon Prime (free one-month trial) and got 2-day free shipping to my sister in Dallas. My parents are visiting and will bring it back. And that also takes care of what I'll get my parents for Christmas -- I'm getting them a blu ray player so they can watch this show plus anything else we have (such as the ending of Lost -- they were the biggest Lost fans, then missed the finale because they'd gone on a cruise, and somehow managed to never watch it after that).

Yeah. And Steve Wilkos would be all, like, "you like beating on women?!?!??! why don't you beat on ME?!?!?!?"

What am I watching right now? The Spengler Cup... 5 min left in the game.. Canada leading Davos (which boasts Joe Thornton, Patrick Kane, Loui Eriksson amd more) 5-0.

Spezza & Tavares show quite a chemistry so far in the tournament..

Saw about a period of one of the quarter finals today. Players looked like something from a kindergarten "art" activity with all the ads plastered on. The ref/linesmen were wearing cow uniforms. No, really, they were. White unis with black shapes and a cartoon cow face on the front. I'm guessing they were the sponsored by the local milk board or some such. This was a quarter final game and there was almost no emotion. It was like watching the ASG but without the stars. Maybe the semis will be better.

Watching the 79 semis, Habs/Bruins on RDS right now. This is the game with the too many men penalty and the famous clip with Cherry standing up on the bench taking a bow with his hands out to the sides (except that was a different penalty -- not sure why he was complaining as it was a big hook even for the late 70s),

Anyhow, Guy is really flying. He's on the ice almost all the time, he's being double shifted, for sure. I remember from Cherry's book, one of the reasons for the too many men is he had one player (forget who) shadowing Lafleur (or trying to) so whenever Lafleur came on, this player would jump over the boards. Someone else forgot to come off.

Man, Dryden stunk that game. That's two bad goals out of the four, and he missed badly skating out to a puck that should have been a simple empty-netter.

Almost no hitting in this game, certainly zero hits of defensemen against the back-boards.

And there it is. Three in the Habs end, and another three in the Boston end. Plus the goalie, makes too many men.

OK, Dryden makes up for it in OT. Many nice saves.

Lafleur must be triple shifted. Imagine how good he would have been without his 3 pack a day habit.

Lambert! On a nice feed by Tremblay. And there's Scotty coming out on the ice while the players are going nuts, and it looks like he's trying to calm them down. There's another series still to go.

They played the Rangers in the Finals, lost the first game and then reeled off four straight for the Cup. Man, those were the days. The Habs teams of the '70s were something else.

Hey, there's "Bunny" Larocque. I don't think I ever knew his actual name ("Michel" according to google).

Just started watching Sons Of Anarchy. Love it. Will have to download the rest of Season 1 and remaining series. Late to the SoA game. Heh heh.

Yeah, it's a pretty good series. It does kinda drag/derail a bit when the gang takes a prolonged trip to Ireland for reasons that shall not be mentioned.

But for the most part, yeah, it's great.

I just whipped through the first season of "Justified". It's pretty good too! Uses some of the cast from "Deadwood", and Walter Goggins of "The Shield" fame. Solid.

Got myself S1 of Homeland on blu-ray for $17. Very well done. Sometimes a bit hard to watch, though.

Homeland, Season 1, is TV at its best. The second season goes a little wonky, but it still pretty good.

The video is awful, but the show is hilarious. Here's a sample:

Finally some new Walking Dead tonight!

I'm also enjoying new shows The Following (still hard to see Kevin Bacon on tv) and The Americans (my youngest son hadn't even heard of the Cold War before watching it.)

I'm contemplating what to do for S2. The box set won't be out until September. I'm ambivalent, at best, about downloading. It *is* illegal not matter how you rationalize it. Is it on Hulu? Will it be? Or Netflix US?
