Really enjoying "Life" on Netflix. Quirky show. The title probably didn't help it find an audience so it got pulled after the 2nd season. I'm hoping they resolved the center story arc by that point.

Most of the episodes are only 1/2 hr though and it sucks that it is too much to cram into 22 mins. They don't show a lot of the reno's, which I think are the fun part.

When I was in Australia I saw this show called The Block. It was a cross between survivor and a home reno show. 4 sets of couples had 10 weeks to redo this homes that were in severe disrepair. They then got to auction them off and keep any profits. Pretty neat concept, having challenges and deadlines to finish different rooms and stuff. They also have to live in these houses, some of which do not even have subfloors. Very cool concept, and I am surprised it's not in North America.

Free homes, eh? Interesting...

Not really free. They only renovate them, then sell them. They keep the proceeds with the winners taking home an extra $80,000.

It really depends on when the plug was pulled. I watched a show called Mercy a couple of years ago, that showed promise but wasn't renewed after Season 1. It ended with loose ends that would have been new storylines. I hate that.

I just got into Parks and Rec. It's true, the show is excellent and Ron Swanson is hilarious.

If you are still on S1 the best is yet to come. The Hunting Trip episode is my favorite. I finally found a clip of Leslie's "explanations" to the park ranger why she shot Ron:

Don't forget AMC has Season 3 of The Walking Dead premiering tonight. Still not AMC-HD on Rogers Dammit!

They did, eventually, give us Space-HD, but several years too late for BSG.

Argo was Cussing awesome. Not sure how Ben Affleck went from Pearl Harbour to directing 3 great movies in a row.

Yeah, why the fart do I not have AMC HD??!!?!?

Due to this, I just download The Walking Dead in HD instead of watching it in crummy caveman definition.

What I'd like to watch is "Homeland". Amazon.com had it on sale for $19.99 (that's the S1 blu ray box)and my sister agreed to re-mail it to me (she's in Dallas). But it must have been a one-day sale and today it's back to $35. Bah! Missed it.

But then I see that it's also on sale for the same price at BestBuy.com. But no matter how I try I cannot set up an account. It asks for a billing address and there is no way to enter Ontario/Canada and our postal code. They allow international customers, but their web interface doesn't work for them. Dammit!

But that's a good price.

Incidentally, I ordered some 3D glasses for a birthday party and they didn't arrive (made sure item was in the US so a little surprised it didn't get here in 2 weeks). Cheapest option I see so far is to buy the 4-pack at Best Buy for $25 (I have 4 more that came with the TV and there are only 7 kids tomorrow; more at next weekend's party but the ones from eBay better be here by then).

So, quick question, could I buy glasses from the local movie theater? I'd even take the used ones.

Empire Theatres (formerly AMC) came through. Called them up and gave them my sob story, they ended up giving me 4 pairs. Watching Journey 2: Mysterious Island in 3D with seven 10-year-old girls. I lead a full life.

Miracle on 34th Street -- the original (albeit colorized) version. Hilarious. Little girl goes to be chewing bubblegum. Her mother comes in, kisses her goodnight and leaves (while she continues chewing). And, no, there was no such thing as "sugarless gum" in the 40s.

Then another character finishes brushing his teeth before bed, then has a smoke.

How times have changed. Anyhow, that's what I watched today. Have to find a cheap copy of Christmas Vacation -- the boys haven't seen it yet. Then, of course, It's a Wonderful Life -- I think I've watched that on Christmas Day the last 4 years.

I got Christmas Vacation in my stocking. Just watched it. Wow, I forgot how much swearing there was in this one. Not *that* much, but when you're watching it with your 10-year-old girls you tend to notice a lot more of the colorful language. Still has one of the insult lines when Clark skewers his boss:

... I want to tell him what a cheap, lying, no-good, rotten, four-flushing, low-life, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-sucking, dog-kissing, brainless, dickless, hopeless, heartless, fat-assed, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped, worm-headed sack of monkey Dung he is!

Yeah, I saw that. I actually ended up getting a second-hand copy for less than that, signed up for Amazon Prime (free one-month trial) and got 2-day free shipping to my sister in Dallas. My parents are visiting and will bring it back. And that also takes care of what I'll get my parents for Christmas -- I'm getting them a blu ray player so they can watch this show plus anything else we have (such as the ending of Lost -- they were the biggest Lost fans, then missed the finale because they'd gone on a cruise, and somehow managed to never watch it after that).
