Is Clouston playing for Leclaire to win or for the team to win? You put in the guy with the better numbers in the matchup. According to those stats, that guy is Elliott.

It's not always all about stats. Perhaps this is Clouston saying I'm not tossing you out on your ear because of a bad goal vs. the Caps. Prove that I made the right decision. Perhaps he's seen things he really doesn't like in practice from Elliott.

Ride Leclaire for a while, or put Elliott in there tonight. Otherwise he shouldn't get a start for a while IMO.

I vote for him not getting a start for a while. We need a number 1 guy, to do that he needs to play the 1st 10 games of the season. No less than that.

With goalies being so fragile mentally and all, I wouldn't be surprised if Clouston wasn't lying about Elliot for sure getting a start in the next two games. If Leclaire has a great game against the Canes, he'll play in Montreal, if Leclaire has an average or bad game against the Canes, he can put Elliot in against Montreal and say, "I'm just doing what I said I would do", and Leclaire's ego is in tack.

He said somewhere that Leclaire could get both. Can't remember where though.

It's clearly in Leclaire's hands whether or not he plays both games

What are the stats this year? ... Thought so.

What if I say his SV% percentage against a particular team is converging to his overall SV%?

In a league predicated on previous performances, you've exposed how little thought you put in to your reply.

What I meant was it's up to Leclaire to play well and earn another start. If he plays poorly that's on him as well and it's his own doing that gets him a seat on the bench.

My opinion is simple: Elliott has killer numbers against the Canes and Leclaire is the undisputed number one (this week), so he should get the Montreal game, while Elliott should get tonight's game.

It's such a simple decision that it actually baffles me why Leclaire is in there. Have you no respect for the goalie who saved the season and took us to the playoffs?

Not real optimum IMO - not really sure what Clouston is trying to do here.

I was just reading up on Carolina's schedule and I think they've got one of the worst to open a season:
@ Russia(preseason)
@Finland
@Ottawa
@Vancouver
@San Jose
@Los Angeles
@Phoenix

I think it's easier to get it out of the way early in the season, in a way. I think the schedule is far worse when it's like 1 home game, then an away game then a home game then 2 away games etc.

At least with these lengthy road trips, you know that you're gonna have a lengthy home stay at some point too.

You mean there are two teams whose power play is worse than 0%?

P.S. We are 3 games into an 82-game schedule. That's a sample size of less than 4%. Statistically speaking, I don't think we can draw any conclusions yet.

He's just playing with Brennan.
