I'm not so sure. I've watched it over and over and personally it looks like two things happened.

1 - Foligno let up on the hit.

2 - It looks to me like the Canes player's head makes contact with the back of Foligno's shoulder. It's almost as if he was going to hit him but decided to just continue to skate rather than lay into him full force.

Sigh....Leclaire......that injury did not look good. Lehner to the rescue?

Fisher will be living off that performance for a dozen games or so.

Just another example of breaking up something that works (Ruutu, Kelly, Neil) to "get Fish going". The next time he pulls up his own socks to get himself going will be the first.

But he's good in the community and he's solely responsible for brisk ticket sales.

You forgot he's on pace for 41 goals.

I'm sure the media has that angle covered.

Tell me more Smile

Yeah, yeah, I know, Roche, you're going to want to tear me a new one, but I'd love to have our own Swedish Monster up here, ya know?

Not if he's going to ride the pine. I'd say if Leclaire is out more than a few games, get a free agent to back up Elliott.

It's gonna be close... it was a blind side hit and there is contact with the head, those are the criteria. He does let up, so hopefully that works in his favour. This was certainly not on the same level as the Cooke hit on Savard... but the new rules are in place and it's a sensitive topic.

I only saw the instant replay last night and it looked more like he hit the guy in the armpit.

It's not technically supposed to matter whether you let up or not if you meet the other criteria. I think he'll get a game, but hopefully his priors let him off with a warning.

The guy's head makes contact with Foligno but I'm not convinced he hit him in the head directly.

What I mean is it looks like the guy runs into Foligno and his head follows through and hits Foligno right on the letter O of his name on the back of his Jersey. Is that a penalty? Blind side hit for sure but I don't believe it was a head shot personally.

To be honest, it looks like Foligno was making a play for the puck since he actually touches the puck before the contact happens. Don't know if that will matter. But it looks like a standard player trying to separate the guy from the puck kind of play.

And to add to it, after watching the replay again, why the hell is Dwyer accelerating through the neutral zone and looking behind him? Do they not teach these guys anything?

Have you been watching? He looks so complacent.
ya bt he's a kid and he's going to make mistakes. let CC deal with it. there's no need to boo him. we don't need that crap here.

It's one thing for a young player to make honest mistakes while learning the game, but it's completely different for him to look complacent, lazy and uninterested while doing it.

Yeah but we are not Montreal. What good can come from the fans alienating a young player in his 2nd year in the league who has the pressure and hype of being our #1 defenceman?

well I think its worth mentioning that Brian Lee was pretty good yesterday. He was sound defensively and actually bailed out Karlsson on an occasion or two. Good to see that (even on his offside)

There shouldn't be any alienation...this is just telling him "hey, we're paying to see you play, so why don't you start acting like you give a Dung."

Ottawa fans have NEVER, EVER, EVER booed someone who didn't have enough skill, but competed hard every night. We do have a big problem in this city with players who are lackadaisical and look uninterested and complacent.

Nothing wrong with letting Karlsson know we have high hopes for him and that we won't accept mediocrity when we know he can be better. And he's smart enough to get the message.

The best thing I can say about Lee is I didn't notice him making too many mistakes. He also seemed to be getting physical too.

I don't think Lee made any mistakes last night. He was easily one of the best players on the ice last night. Although he looks like he'll still be the odd man out when Kuba gets back.

On a side note, looks like there could be some serious temperament issues bubbling to the surface soon with the ice time Kovalev is getting.
