Unless something happens that we all don't see coming, then I'd as close to guarantee without being in the know that Bishop is gone after this lockout year. Ideally we could keep Bishop in the wings for another year, then trade Anderson when we're comfortable with Lehner taking over, but that can't happen.

Also, people should note the amazing value of a young goaltender with huge upside. People should also note that it was LEHNER that was included in a potential deal to land Nash, so one way or another Murray has cards to play, no one can know how he'll play them, but I'd bet heavily against it being Anderson moving before his final year.
do you have proof of this? i never saw anything solid.

Proof? Nah, but it was all over the net when it happened. It was Zibanejad + Lehner + 1st round pick I believe - and it seemed to be all but done - then Nash nixed it.
I remember reading so many rumours back then about what it could be and there was many scenarios flying around. I doubt that was a definite one. that to me is pure speculation and nothing more.

I believe that one though, sounded like it was done until Nash nixed it.

I believe there was a deal in place but I never heard from a reliable source the actual components of the deal, just alot of speculation. and to be honest after all that's happened afterwards that period, a deal that doesn't include methot and foligno sounds suspicious to me.

That's why I am not ready to anoint Lehner as the Sens #1, nor do I think they should be dealing Anderson anytime soon. Goalies are way too unpredictable (see Steve Mason). Lehner has yet to show he can be consistently well over the course of a full season at the pro level. I'm sure he's good enough but in that case there's no problem with him demonstrating it at the AHL level now is there ?

Put up or shut up.

What do you think he is doing right now let alone done in the past? He's already proven it and he's proven how good he is at the NHL level too. Guess an MVP, the inevitable all-star appearance this year, and probably top goaltending honours that are coming is way are not enough...

Considering that he said "for a full season," I'm guessing that you're right, that isn't enough. He hasn't done it for a season yet.

Again, my favourite prospect that the Sens have, but it's only 16 games in.

Really? I thought he already won the MVP when they won the Calder Cup.

It's not a fluke what he's doing and by years end, after he has destroyed the AHL there should be no argument in terms of him being in the NHL next year. Hell, there is barely one now and even that is grasping at straws to say the very least.

His time in Ottawa last year was nothing less than impressive as well. Not a whole hell of a lot more for him to prove outside of the NHL now.

Done it when it has mattered each and every single time.

There's still a lot to learn for him in terms of rebound control - something that can kill you at the NHL level as you know. That said, yes, this is 100% his final year in Bingo (and the final year for Bishop in the Ottawa organization).

He is still learning.. but that shutout in Boston last season showed me he is ready. When was the last time a Sens goaltender got a shutout in Boston.. let alone a win. His game against Chicago was awesome.. but too bad the rest of the team couldn't do their part.

The faster Lehner goes to the NHL the better. Don't really care if it's backup or N1, as long as he learns to face NHL snipers ASAP. Nothing left to learn in Bingo.
But if the organization thinks we can make a playoff run next year, Anderson is not going anywhere. Especially looking at the defence corps right now Facepalm

Don't have to worry about this season re: defense... But next year.. no Lundin (probably) and no Gonchar.

That leaves Karlsson, Cowen, Phillips, Methot... So do they bring up 2 young guys from Bingo,.. two of Borowiecki, Weircioch, Benoit, Gryba? or do they go out and sign a UFA D or trade for one?

They would probably need a veteran... who would be out there?

No Cowen this year is a huge blow to our D... if there is hockey this year.

Yeah, Methot Philips and whoever on the left is probably bottom 5 in the league. Imagine if Karlsson is injured. Laugh1

Apparently the Sens won't release Zibanejad for the WJC

Good. No reason to. They let Sweden have him last year, both the SEL and WJC and his season sucked because of it. The only positive to his season last year was the WJC where he scored the winning goal in the goal medal game.

It's now Ottawa's responsibility to develop him and do it properly. If the WJC was in NA, then maybe they let him go, MAYBE.

Fact of the matter is Zibanejad's development will be better served playing on the small ice, against much better players, and if the NHL season does start they want him at camp and close to that team as well.

He has nothing left to prove at the jr level. Smart move by Ottawa even if it isn't popular around Sweden or with anyone else who loves the WJC.
