That goal was awesome. He is really beginning to make a case for the O-Sens.

That may happen next season (if there is a next season). Gonchar will be gone. Lundin would have come and gone without playing a game.

BoroCop in along with Weircioch? Would the Sens do that?

Karlsson-Cowen
Phillips-Weircioch
Methot-Borocop -- those two would be a bad duo to play against. Just call them the smash brothers. LOL

I thought they wanted Methot to play with (and protect/shield) Karlsson. Cowen is about to lose yet another year of development -- not sure he would be ready for top-pairing minutes for 82 games.

Good point.. BUT we don't know how Methot and Karlsson will pair up. We already have seen Cowen partner with Karlsson for a few games this past season and it worked pretty well. Then put Methot with Weircioch and Phillips with Boro...

Cowen will miss this seaon and with the way things are going.. the rest may as well.

That D lineup needs an injection of righty Ds, or Ds who routinely play the right side. For that reason alone, I'd say Ceci has a better shot of making the team next year than, say, Wiercioch.

Maybe Brennan was right, we should never have let Carkner go Smile

He played a grand total of 30 games last season. Murray offered him a 1 yr contract.. mostly because of his knee injuries. Question is, IF this CBA garbage ends in another lost season.. and with all the good young talent developing in the AHL.. will Carkner even have an NHL job at the end of all of this?

Don't think Carkner was the answer, but I also don't think there's anyway we ice a D core with only 1 guy who has a right-hand shot & who normally plays the right side (Karlsson). Whatever else happens next year, OTT will have to find a way to replace Gonchar -- who is a top-4 guy who plays the right side, as his off-side -- either via FA, trade, or internally.

Maybe they shouldn't have traded away Rundblad Smile

Are those smileys not coming through or what?

Seriously, though, is Gryba not able to do what Carkner did? I'm not talking about being a heavyweight, but just his defensive abilities. Then Ceci can be what we all hoped Rundblad would become. Ceci is already playing the NA game and has good size. He won't have to play big minutes when Karlsson is on the ice for half the game. We'll probably have to play something like a Phillips/Gryba as our first PK pairing, unless Borowiecki proves to be another A-Train; or unless Ceci really surprises.

Down the road a few years, I wouldn't complain if we had Karlsson, Ceci and Gryba as our three right-side D, and Cowen, Methot, Wiercioch on the left, with Borowiecki as the 7th D. Or maybe Wiercioch as the 7th. Maybe alternate based on which team we play.

And Barry Brust (former B-Sens goalie) has just broken Johhny Bower's 55-year old record for most consecutive shutout minutes. He's got 251:41 after the first period. Old record was 249:52. Congratulations Brusty.

Let's just hope Bridgeport's goalie doesn't challenge Lehner to a fight.

Ended up 6-1 -- Lehner lost his shutout with about 6 min left. My stream went down so I missed the 3rd period.

Gryba (2), Schneider (2), Benoit, Grant the goal scorers.

Congrats to Brust, he was a massive part of the Sens success in winning a Calder.

Brust had a great regular season the year they went to the Calder Cup... he got them into the playoffs - no doubt about that. But in the playoffs B-Sens were down 3 games to 1 when KK switched to Lehner who won 3 straight OT games onroute to the Calder Cup win and the playoffs MVP.

I know, but without Brust's heroics during the regular season we never would have been in a position to make that run.

True... and he is having a great season so far in the 5 or 6 games (I think) he has played. Did he play in Europe last year?

That's why hockey is not tennis or golf. It's a team sport.

@PBSens usually lists them. This tweet was from Saturday's pre-game:

#BSens forward lines: Hoffman-Cannone-Silfverberg; Dziurzynski-Grant-Stone, Prince-Petersson-Zibanejad; Schneider-Pageau-Jessiman
