That would certainly be something. I certainly wasn't expecting another move until March.

Still...I don't trust anonymous forum members in the age we live in. Even if he is an "insider" he should just tell people his info rather than just teasing everybody.

Whether or not he can be trusted is one thing. He did jolt everyone around with the Spezza-traded thing which damaged his credibility.

Whether he's got legit sources or not is another. This guy breaks stuff before anyone. He was even saying the Sens were going after a USHL defenceman with one of their last picks at the draft (turned out to be Aneloski). He's obviously got some solid connections.

But yeah, given the 80% thing and given the Spezza fiasco I wouldn't be surprised if nothing happened.

Nice to at least have something to speculate about.

To me this has to mean either Savard or a guy like Vokoun.

In my mind when this HFBords guy says "a piece that will make us an instant contender" it means filling one of our holes that championship teams usually have filled.

The common thread that most contending teams have is: Two players who can be considered high end centers (Spezza + ?), a #1 DMan (Gonchar) and a #1 goaltender (have either of ours proven enough consistency?)

It'll be interesting to see what happens up front if Savard is the one brought in though because it will cause a major shakeup.

Rumors and speculation are a waste of time.

I would love Vokoun, but he only has 1 year left on his deal...and adding him for 1 year still wouldn't make us a true contender, IMO. He's still one of the best goalies in the league who is on a Dung deam though.

Maybe Murray is banking on the fact that making one final push with all our depth and experienced veterans like Kovalev and (possibly Vokoun) having great final contract years would put us over the top.

Will be interesting to see what happens, but I will be extremely dissapointed if we trade Cowen, Wiercioch, Rundbland or any other young talented player if all we're picking up is an over-the-hill veteran.

I love Andy Sutton, but I'm hoping for a player with more impact than that, haha.

Vokoun would be a disappointment, though it would be easier to get him than Savard (in terms of player turnover). I think most on this site would much rather get savard than vokoun.

Here's my question: since its a weak draft coming up, would you trade the 2011 1st rounder for Marc Savard if it meant he'd be a senator?

Nice. This is where the sens have a big opportunity come trade season to land Brad Richards. We'd almost certainly have to trade our own 1st, and maybe Weircioch/Rundblad (I'd hate that but...) + cap dump. However, the idea of a Spezza/Richards 1-2 punch is waaay more enticing to me than Spezza/Savard. And with alot of cap space coming in the off-season, there's an excellent chance of re-signing him again.

People say this EVERY year. Once we get close to the draft, it will look a lot better because people will be more aware of the prospects in the draft. People said that last year, but it was still at least a solid first round.
