Exactly, Ottawa is in a position where they can afford to take a risk with a guy like Wick. There is no reason why Wick doesnt get a 10-15 game look and if he plays well, great, if not then you have Butler, Greening, and Hoffman waiting for a chance.

tarasenko is a no, like the other two russians better and would take them, love beau bennet which i would have said earlier but didnt know they were going to say who they had in....another guy that was here was forbert and they think he could fall, also like a sweed...more info on this soon and they think they may get him with the 3rd but are scared he might go and like him a ton and love skinner but know he wont drop

Tarasenko is a no - was very surprising to me. Bennett? Also surprising, means we're getting a couple of 3rd rounders to go after some Swedish forwards.

At least a 3rd rounder? Are you kidding? They will probably be able to pick this kid up in the mid 20's. You are talking about at least a 2nd, a 3rd, and probably 2 or 3 late round picks. Looks what NYI have up last year to move to number 16. Something very similar will happen if they do indeed take this kid,

Look what they got with Wiercoich. Bennett may very well go to Denver and do the exact same thing Weircoich did. He domianted Jr A and if this is the kid Murray thinks is their guy, you can count on a bunch more picks coming to Ottawa. IMO, I would be in favour of this over anything else.

There must be at least a couple of guys they have ranked between 60-120 that they love. Probably means Lee and Foligno are going as well to fill up the depth cupboard.

Could be wrong though, this could've just been a formality or a high stakes game of poker and they don't want Bennett at all.

Murray's scouts have a pretty strong graps on Jr A. Weircoich, Grant, and Boroweicki all in one draft. There is no reason to think that this kid cant be very much looked at in the same light as Wiercoich, who in a lot of people's opinions around here (including mine) that he might be the steal of the 08 draft.

If they think Skinner will be gone along with some other guys, then might as well get the guy they turly want. Seems like they are really doing their homework.

I really hope they dont trade down ....

If they love Bennett so much might as well trade some assets and try to squeeze into the early 2nd round.

You can do that by trading down. Look at a team like Atlanta who is drafting at 24. If they want to move up and grab a guy they can offer a lot. A 2nd round pick, a 3rd, w/e else. If Murray can get 2, 3, maybe even 4 more picks along with the guy he wants (which I trust beyond beliefe) then you do it.

I can't really get excited about any of the names outside of the Top 6 - 8... So I really don't mind trading down.

Absolutely, but I would move so far down that it might be a risk. If they can trade down to about 24, 25, they should be able to get their guy.

If it happens, I would imagine they move down to 22 at the most. I remember them saying they liked the top 22, then after that there was a major fall off.
