I think of all the people in the TB organization, St.Louis is happiest because he doesn't want to be on a loser anymore.

Then he's a sellout and he deserves to rot in TB!!! Ottawa Senators off-season talk - Page 24 555492

But now I want him here.

If he's that spineless? No thanks. He should be telling that french-hater and Olympic team leaver-offer, Yzerman to trade him to Ottawa post-haste!!!!

I never even considered St Louis in Ottawa. What a force he would be with Spezza and Regin. All things being said, could you imagine this lineup?

Regin-Spezza-St.Louis
Michalek-Fisher-Alfie
Butler-Cullen-Smith (or Wick/Greening/Winnie)
Ruutu-Kelly-Neil

Phillips-Karlsson
Wiercioch-Michalek
Carkner-Cowen

I think it's possible our team might look something like that next year... As I stated earlier, Penner could also be a logical pick. Maybe Kovalev, Lee and Foligno for Penner and Cogliano?

I would love Penner or St. Louis on this team. How I wish the All-star waived his NTC that night Ottawa Senators off-season talk - Page 24 555492

It's up there with "What if the Sens kept Chara ?"

History would have been made that sort of thing.

Im glad Heatley didnt waive because if Michalek actually brings his brother over for a cap hit then what market value would be, that's an absolute steal for Ottawa. I think Ottawa wins that trade now anyways just with Michalek.

Toni Lydman would be an awesome pick-up as well.

Smid has the same type of potential that Z.Michalek does so it wouldn't have been all bad in that sense.

If Z does come over though you have to call the trade a win for the Sens.

Yup! Absolutely. Personally I think we got the best player in the deal so I think we win anyways. I dont think it's a stretch to say Michalek might be potting more goals then Heatley in 2 or 3 years, he has to find some consistancy but it is defently possible. Add in the face he kills penalties and is a very solid defensive forward, I think The Sens win.

If they add Z, it's not even close IMO... hell if they add Z and resign Sutton ( a stetch) it's laughable.

Maybe it's just me, but are we not viewing the proposed trade with TB with rose colored glasses?

You really think that Kovalev, Foligno, Lee and O'Brien are worth St. Louis?

A guy who is over 35, coming off of a very poor season and major knee surgery. A guy who should be top 6 and was given every chance yet looks to be destined to being a 3rd line guy, a Defenseman who is at best soft, and after 2 years with NHL experience isn't looking more comfortable than he should be and a guy who our Asst GM pegged has having consistency issues and needs to take a major step with is off season program to even think of making the jump to the next level.

I'm guessing without Fisher in the trade it's never going to happen.

we're failing to mention the pick that came along in the trade too. I guess we used it to bring in Sutton? Sutton provided a lot of grit and played relatively well during his stint in Ottawa...

Even if Cheechoo didn't pan out as we expected, he's apparently been a good mentor to the AHLers and his work ethic was never in question.

If Marleau doesn't re-sign in SJ, I can really see that team falling apart

I think it's a slight overpayment, personally. Kovalev is no slouch and you're adding a cheap forward to a pretty empty forward corps in Foligno. That should be plenty.

If they wanted much more than that, I'd just as easily keep Kovalev.

I'd put Kovalev's trade value at slightly above Cheechoo's.

Something tells me he wasn't swimming in offers when he took Ottawa's 2 year deal.

St. Louis is a far better player in my book.

Put Cheechoo with Mike Fisher and see how that turns out. I dare you.

Well that would be interesting for sure. I'd love to see what BM could acquire with that.

I can't see it happening but seeing Fisher gone (or moved to the wing) and Cullen becoming our #2 centre is on my wishlist Ottawa Senators off-season talk - Page 24 422187

Yes we're looking at a St.Louis trade with rose-coloured glasses. No, I don't think Kovalev or Lee or O'Brien have much - if any value to the Lightning. Foligno would be the starter, then presumably the Lightning would want some things we don't have (or won't give up).

keep in mind St. Louis basically asked to be traded... value drops in these situation. I think you'd be able to get him for Kovalev and Foligno

I'm not sure if that still stands considering the request was made due to the gong show in the team's management and ownership.

They've since been sold and cleaned house, and Stevie Y gives them instant respectability.

I'm getting the impression he'll stay and see what happens now.

And instant french-hateability.
