There will be movement up front though and probably on the blueline too, Murray has a ton of work ahead of him but he is actually is a position of strength this year unlike the last few.

Who though? That's the question that everyone's asking. Who's going?

Who knows, I would say there are some obvious candidates between Lee, Foligno, Campoli, Kuba, Spezza, and Fisher. Does Murray want to tweek? Does he want to make a statement? Does he want a certain type of team? Who knows.

I was initially thinking that Kovalev was untradeable but the more I think of it, the more I think we can trade him. I'm just not sure what he's worth. I mean if we only get a pick and player/prospect for him now, we may as well wait until the trade deadline and get the same value then. Like, Montreal for example wouldn't blow $5 million now but when he's a lot cheaper at the deadline Kovalev's value sky rockets. The expiring contract is definitely in everybody's favour though.

I don't think Fisher is going anywhere. He puts fans in the seats and his marriage to Carrie Underwood puts the Sens on the map. He's worth his money for those reasons alone, and he has a similar season to the last one, he's a steal.

Most likely to go are the RFAs (Foligno, Lee, Campoli) and I'd say Kuba. I really can't compare if Wiercioch and Cowen are comparable to Lee and Campoli given the fact that I haven't really watched either play, but if Murray thinks so then they're as good as gone. Look for Kuba to go to NJD for a 2nd round pick. NJD have no defencemen next season and with Kovalchuk coming off the books, they have cap room to burn. Foligno and Lee I can see going to Chicago; they're desperate for cheap players to compliment their more expensive ones. Maybe those two for Vesteeg or Ladd?

If we can get Michalek for Kuba money we're laughing. Foligno and Lee for Ladd/Versteeg wash out too and we are instantly improved from those two moves alone. Throw in Kovalev to Minnesota, Edmonton or Nashville or something and you're laughing. To be honest, a Kovalev for Penner trade wouldn't shock me. Kovalev would be that short-term solution in Edmonton to put fans in the seats, and would clear $5 million for Edmonton the year after, opening up for a big UFA signing to go with Hall, Eberle, MPS, Omark, Hemsky, and Gagner. Ottawa would get a really solid RW that competes, hits, and adds toughness to the team.

I'd bet we could swap Kovalev and Foligno for St. Louis. Wink

Maybe in NHL10.

Unless St. Louis is spotted with an "Yzerman Sucks" T-shirt in TB .....

He already requested a trade. Probably was due to management but you never know...

And yeah, I'd even throw in Lee and have a mid-tier prospect coming back.

Who knows where St.Louis stands with a new ownership/management in place in TB ?

I'm sure Stevie Y could do better than a lazy russian with 1 knee and 1-2 disappointing prospects from the Sens.

That'd be an epic fleecejob by Murray if he could pull it off. Look what St.Louis did for Stamkos, imagine what he could do for Regin and others ?

I don't think Yzerman coming in will smooth things over after leaving St. Louis off of Team Canada.

Yzerman must be pretty hated then as he left a lot of good players off that team.

I would hope St.Louis to have better character than to still be sore over that decision.

Des it change anything that little Marty St.Louis was sitting right next to Yzerman at his press conference looking at him with doe eyes?

I think of all the people in the TB organization, St.Louis is happiest because he doesn't want to be on a loser anymore.

Then he's a sellout and he deserves to rot in TB!!! Ottawa Senators off-season talk - Page 23 555492

If he's that spineless? No thanks. He should be telling that french-hater and Olympic team leaver-offer, Yzerman to trade him to Ottawa post-haste!!!!

I never even considered St Louis in Ottawa. What a force he would be with Spezza and Regin. All things being said, could you imagine this lineup?

Regin-Spezza-St.Louis
Michalek-Fisher-Alfie
Butler-Cullen-Smith (or Wick/Greening/Winnie)
Ruutu-Kelly-Neil

Phillips-Karlsson
Wiercioch-Michalek
Carkner-Cowen

I think it's possible our team might look something like that next year... As I stated earlier, Penner could also be a logical pick. Maybe Kovalev, Lee and Foligno for Penner and Cogliano?
