I feel bad for Donovan. He sat at the end of the bench for almost 4 periods of hockey. And what about Zack Smith? The one shift he gets sent out on in the third, Crosby scores.

Is that just poor roster management by Clouston?

Great game... look at the outcome... how can you say that?

This one is going back to Ottawa for one more go at it.

I did not think I would ever watch a game with refereeing as biased as that Women's Olymppic Gold Medal Game in Salt Lake City, but this one probably comes close. Anyone thinking the fix was not int, I feel sorry for *YOU*.

Are you joking me? Even in a win you still complain? Sometimes I'm so embarrassed to be a Sens fan...

I think the complaint is legitimate. Cullen getting hauled down on that pseudo-breakaway...come on. The ref couldn't have had a better vantage point on the play. And he botched the call. I don't believe that the NHL is controlling the refereeing, but is it possible that the botched refereeing is a result of corruption inside the officiating ranks?

And that Mike Fisher penalty late in the 3rd made all kinds of sense. PLAYOFF GAME DAY: Game 5: Ottawa Senators (1) @ Pittsburgh Penguins (3) - 7:00pm ET - Thu. Apr. 22nd, 2010 - Page 43 601927

That 4-min penalty to Fisher is why they should look at bringing in the "challenge" system for penalties like that. Same for when a player gets high-sticked, but it's his own teammate's stick and the other team gets the penalty.

You mean you're among the 20+ million who didn't see a "distinct kicking motion" from Foligno (or Sedin)?

Huh.

Two thumbs way up for the boys finding a way to get over that one and win the game, btw. That could have easily got them off their game.

The refs did their best to ensure that Gary's team could win. Better luck next time, I guess.

Here's a prediction for you: OTT gets 2 penalties in the first 10 minutes of tomorrow's game, with at least one of them being dubious. Why not? It's only what's happened in just about every game this series.

What's different in last nights game is that they played like the Flyers: they didn't let the BS calls get to them

They're mixing in bad off-side calls when we're on the rush too! Kudos for innovation in skullduggery!

I loved how in the "addendum" DVD the NHL forwarded to CBC, the example was identical to Foligno's goal. Except that in the DVD it was deemed a good goal.
Whether it be officiating or the way they go about supplementary discipline, this league is and always will be a joke.
Loved the Fisher 4 minute "high sticking" penalty too BTW....

The officiating in this series has been horrendous. So bad that it got to the point where I BBM'd my friend and said "This league is a joke and I'm never watching hockey again". Whether it was Ruutu not drawing any penalties for late hits/hits from behind, allowing Pittsburgh's goal (which okay, I understand but still...), Fisher's 4 minute 'high-stick', Foligno's co-incidental minor for trying to push the Pittsburgh player who was holding him off of him, Foligno's kick-in... the list goes on.

This was a character win by a Sens team who just wanted it more. They dominated in overtime and have all the momentum heading into Game 6 at home. Let's hope they can take all the plusses with them, win one at home, and put all the pressure on Pittsburgh in their own house.

Personally if Ottawa loses in Game 6, I'll be upset but will be a lot less upset after the game last night. I was impressed with Ottawa's determination and their willingness to win one-on-one battles, and overcome adversity. Good on the Sens, good on Clouston, and good on the majority of Sens fans who stayed up to watch last night's game.

I hear ya, bro. I bought my game 6 tickets 5 minutes after the Carkner goal. Third level, 6 rows back from the front of the first row, in the visitor's end (I always get stuck in the home end, for some reason).

Let it rain goals on Fleury!

Just to emphasize how sickening that was. IDENTICAL!!!! PLAYOFF GAME DAY: Game 5: Ottawa Senators (1) @ Pittsburgh Penguins (3) - 7:00pm ET - Thu. Apr. 22nd, 2010 - Page 43 555492 It's borderline criminal. We're not talking a debatable on-ice call here. This is a goal that was overturned after a league review clearly contrary to their own interpretation of their own Diddling rule.

How about the blatant dive on the Spezza penalty>? Diddle indeed.

I could write a 10,000 word essay on how bad the officiating has been this series.
