Ottawa (29-21-4 -2nd in the North East and 5th in the Conference) visit Pittsburgh (33-20-1 - 2nd in the Atlantic and 4th in the Conference) Thursday night. Ottawa extended their winning streak in style beating the Devils at their own game and chasing Brodeur from the net in a 3-0 victory on Tuesday night.
Elliott was named NHL 3rd star of the night for his performance and 3rd star by Gord Wilson and Dave Schreiber of Team1200. That was a complete game with little given up in terms of opposition opportunities however, this was against an offensively challenged Devils team suffering through some key injuries. Here's hoping we can keep this streak alive vs. the likes of Malkin, Crosby, Gonchar and Staal. If the Sens can adhere to the system as well as they did, coupled with some of Elliott's recent magic, this one should be another W for our boys in Red, Gold and Black.

The PP did not produce last night but the Sens PK continues to be off the charts good over this current win streak which is nice because despite the fire power the Pens have they sit near the bottom in PP stats. So close in fact we can almost touch them from our comfy basement chair (Sens are 30th on PP BTW).

(7 is heaven but 8 would be great...)

Looks like the GDTs go up that much faster during a winning streak!

Don't stop the music.

Actually, since shabbs is on hiatus, myself and Prages have picked them up and I find it easier to get the skeleton up early and then add the links when they are available. I think prages is the same way.

I think that it is a good thing that the Sens are in the midst of a eastern conference swing that allows us good opportunity to gain ground/ pull away from teams in the standings while we are so hot. It is also a great test to see how we match up against the teams ahead of us, re: NJ, Chicago and Pit.
As for beating up on teams lower, i hope montreal gets pushed further down in the standings come sat.
The lines from yesterday looked really good. All four were contributing well, it was nice to see Alfie, Spez and Michalek get back to the former chemistry they had rather quickly. Looking ahead to the pens it should be another great game. Both teams have been winning regularly lately, but Pit has been beating up on teams that have been losing, ie NYR, PHI, EDM, CAL, NYI. Their last two loses came from teams on current winning streaks similar to Ottawa, being VAN (won 5) and WSH (won 7). So things look pretty good for the boys if this trend continues

Look nobody enjoys shooting penguins but if you have to shoot penguins, well you might as well enjoy it.

On RW, no less. I can't see Cheechoo losing his spot to Winchester, though.

I don't know if Winnie is quite ready to return but it's a good sign. I do agree with you though. It will probably take a loss or a horrendous performance by someone not named Cheechoo in the bottom 6 for Winnie to get back in.

Well folks my day is almost over so I'll have to either update the links tomorrow for the Game day previews or rely on Prager to update them if anything gets posted today.
