When I say he's choking, I'm not kidding. He has 1 assist in 3 games while sporting a -2. It doesn't get any worse than that.

But he's Dany F'n Heatley... he's an Allstar !

Granted though that it's early and at least the Sharks are tied in the series, but yeah, it's been deplorable. LOTS of perimeter play from the Fing All-Star. And Thornton thinks because he mixes it up in scrums after the whistle, that he's 'involved'. Fail, fail, fail.

You know why they're failing? It's Karma for ripping us off on the trade. GAME 4 - 2010 Stanley Cup GAME DAY: Ottawa Senators (1) @ Pittsburgh Penguins (2), Tuesday Apr. 20, 2010 - 7:00PM EST. - Page 60 159628

I think clowe will have a rebound season next year. He will come around and earn his money. Similar to Penner. In the end Heatley screw us over but Murray should have stood pat for at least a couple of months. If he did and heatley maintained his performance i think we could have gotten more. In the least he should have stood pat on a 1st instead of a 2nd.

Now SJ has to deal with it. Heatley is choking so badly he's gagging right now, it's embarrassing.

 I love it! Eat it Heatbag! Did he score or do anything last night?
Man, I guess I can just hope for failure for everyone else at this point. The bitterness is going to linger for a long time. I will go for all underdogs except for Montreal at this point.

I am hoping for Colorado to advance. From the games I watched so far, heatley has been his usual self in the playoffs. If SJS goes out in the 1st, there should be major changes coming.

39 goals and 43 assists for 82 points in 82 games for DH compared to 22 goals and 12 assists for 34 points in 66 games for Michalek who also was injuried throughout the season.

I suspect his numbers will be better with an injury free season. To add to that Heatley is familar playing with Thorton and Marleau where its all new for Michalek. It doesnt look like we won that deal but I am guessing it will only get better for us. Gotta love cap savings.

I'm still not sure whether we were overachievers in the regular season or not.

The decline in the Sens' play is mind boggling.

Did Clouston not prepare this team for the playoffs ?

Did losing Kovalev, Michalek and Kuba snuff our chances this much ?

I'm really frustrated and angry, I don't mind losing, but losing like this ..... it's sad.

Philadelphia can win with Brian Boucher in nets ... and they're a bigger goalie graveyard than we are.

I wish I knew and had the answers. I have no idea what happened. The injuries didn't help at all, Alfie apparently is hurt as well, that certainly doesn't help either. So really, if you think about it, we're down 3 top 6F and 1 top 2 D-man. We should still be able to battle harder than we have though. Clouston totally got outcoached here, especially at home. Oh well, it goes back to the "it's good experience for our rookies (coach included)* argument.

Philly also has or had up until last game, Gagne, Carter, Richards, Hartnell, Briere, Timmonen, Pronger, Cobourn, Parent, and Giroux. That's a lot of talent.

Has this been covered?

Would anyone seriously take Spezza and his contract?

What would we get back?

I am thinking edmonton or toronto????

Maybe the sharks would like to reunite him with heatley if they fall out of the playoffs......

Well if Marleau leaves, they could do it.

without spezza we could keep cullen, sutton, and go after ladd.

I heard a rumor on the airwaves today that if SJS falls flat the most likely person being shipped out would be Thornton. I'd take the 1 year remaining on his contract and another piece to punt spezza.

Yup, I would too. Thornton, Couture, and McGinn for Spezza, Foligno, and Lee... why not. Kind of makes sense.

Yeah, something along those lines anyways, both teams need a major shakeup if San Jose gets bounced in the first round, even the 2nd round which I defently think they will.

Anways, Spezza has to go, that much Im sure of. He might one day reach his potential but it certainly wont be in Ottawa.

With a deal like this it gives Ottawa some flexibility to move Thornton at the deadline if out of a playoff hunt and get some added prospects. Unless of course he was willing to sign for less. I would be hesitant on giving up on Folingo so soon and would prefer to send another player instead. With our added Defensive depth Lee is expendable and SJS could always use another keep dman. That being said it wouldnt look good on Murray after signing him recently.

We'll see, a lot of things have to play out. If San Jose gets bounced in roudn 1 though, I can absolutely see SJ and Ottawa dealing for each others under acheiving number 1 centers.

wprager wrote:Another argument for keeping Spezza -- remember what happened when we lost or moved Chara, Redden, Meszaros (plus Corvo, Preissing, Schneider). Our D went into a huge funk that we still haven't recovered from.

Over the last few years we've lost a lot of forwards (in no particular order) Havlat, Heatley, Vermette, Hossa, the pending UFAs we signed (including Cullen this year -- don't kid yourselves, he's not coming back). We'll lost Kovalev soon, and who knows if Michalek will still be top-six after yet another knee surgery. Those are all top-six and that's a lot of turnover.

Yeah, there's still a problem with our D moving the puck for sure. Karlsson will help a lot obviously, but we need another guy like him.

I've always like Pavel Kubina. Can we have him?
Bingo. Kubina would be a nice improvement on Kuba. You will still be frustrated by the lack of physical play, but at least there would be some, he has a good shot AND he will use it occasionally.

You people are kidding right ?

Trading Spezza for the biggest certified playoff choker and "#1 centre who's not really a #1 centre" ?

Boston already figured out a long time ago Thornton isn't "the man". San Jose is learning that the hard way. Anyone who watched the Olympics would've seen how invisible Thornton was playing with some of the best players in the world.

And you want to make us fans in Ottawa suffer ? We know exactly what we'd be getting and it's the last thing we need.

I'm all for change but there has to be some sort of upgrade.

Trade him to Edmonton or something, maybe we can get Penner and Hemsky or something.

I think that would be the worst possible move for both franchises. The ONLY reason Ottawa does this is because Thornton has a year left (or is it 2) on his contract, so he'd be off the books sooner than Spezza. But, I can't stress this enough to people, Joe Thornton is not wanted or needed here. We're gonna try to change the culture here, we already have. The last remaining guy who's not the hard working, 2-way player is Spezza and even he showed that he could play that style of game this year. It's when he tries to do everything himself that he fucks up.

This is the very last thing I would do (I would never do it).
