Don't think energy is the problem at all. Our 3rd and 4th lines outplay them ridiculously and they have Jordan Staal. There's a reason he's been invisible in 3 games.

Crosby and Malkin are killing Ottawa, and there's nothing our bottom lines can do about that, especially when they're called for elbowing when they put a solid check on.

Spezza needs to put his Dung together, especially when Regin is playing sooo well. I'll wait til the series is over to talk aobut his future here but right now I'd ship his Donkey out of town in a second. Don't htink he's selfish, but he's just not tough enough mentally and physically for playoff battles.

The energy level isn't were it should be. They should have pushed it higher and in both games 2 and 3. CC made it clear after game 2 that the Sens did not play desperate enough. I'd say that is the case again tonight.

Whatever, guys like Regin, Karlsson, Elliott and Clouston need the experience. This will only help in future years. What else can you say?

Me too. We have the team that should be hitting everything that moves and yet we're letting Pittsburgh dictate the flow on our home ice.

Not impressed.

That you've given up way too early? Cmon SpezD, you're better than that GAME 3 - 2010 Stanley Cup GAME DAY: Ottawa Senators (1) @ Pittsburgh Penguins (1), Sunday Apr. 18, 2010 - 6:30PM EST - Page 24 821277
Elliott doesn't give that goal early, it's a different game. We score on that domination in their zone, it's a different game (and Malkin doesn't get a breakaway). Better reffing, could have helped etc.

To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if Alfie and Murray have a little talk about Spezza in June.

It will help indeed but its still no excuse. Look at the Colorado - SJS series. The AV's been step for step with the sharks if not more and they are younger than us with a lot less experience.

I'm not giving up, but if we try to play like that against them on home ice again, this series is done. No real threat to MAF - and you know that I think he stinks. We need to be throwing everything at him, make him squirm and sweat, but we let him off the hook.

And when Crosby tags Alfie we should be ready with a push back on his next shift. A forearm shiver to the head to make him aware that we still have a pulse.

We can do it, but we need to wake up and play with the grit we've played with a lot of the season - and Alfie and Spezza need to play with some passion. I'm nervous and sad right now though, but I'll reserve judgment for Game 4 - I mean, there's no way Spezza and Alfie can play like this again on home ice? Right? Right?.... :crossarms:

The Sharks are nothing compared to the Pens. Nothing at all, they're a whimpering little team begging to be put out of their misery. They're playing so badly right now it makes me cringe.

Their blue line is also more mobile, they have amazing goaltending and are overall more skilled (when Spezza doesnt show up).

Rewind 2 years ago... You could answer your own question... Yes.

But seriously, Crosby needs to be beaten down... When he's at the net we need to physicaly punish him... Make his life a nigthmare, that goes for the whole team. Dont let ourselves get beaten up, were stronger then them and we should dictacte the physical aspect of this game.

What's to talk about though? What player can we replace Spezza with that has good playoff experience and can at least tag 80 point in the regular season to get us there in the first place?

Trade Spezza and sign Brad Richards is the closest thing I can think of - and we all know UFAs are truly 100% unpredictable. He could easily stay in Dallas. I'm seriously concerned with Spezza though, 7 million for that? I realize he's being checked by the best in the business, but man, that's really scary.

Well said, Look at game one they shot from all over and we won. The Sens need to shoot at him at every opportunity and go after those juicy rebounds. Spezza was successful earlier this year when he started shooting more instead of looking at the pretty passes. Speaking of passes there seems to be no happy medium. Either too hard or too soft, no crisp passes. it looked tonight they were trying to force something or give up.

The 4 big concerns I saw.

1 no shooting enough and gotta shoot from every where. Gotta get MAF moving.
2. Cover the points.
3. Hit hit hit
4. better tape to tape passes.

I'm pretty bitter tonight. When I was younger, this would be the knee-jerk time where I'd say trade Spezza and Diddling yank Elliott for Leclaire, but this is not done yet. Spezza needs to man up, so does Alfie. Elliott has to be better, Neil, Kelly, Ruutu need to bring it like they did in Game 1 every game, Sutton needs to man up. The list is long, but the series is NOT done. Wake up!

Disagree. They are playing well. After all the SJS have now outshot the avs 28 to 12 in the 2nd. The goaltender for sjs will be the concern, even though he looks to be playing very well tonight

Exactly, why can fans see that and the team can't? Shoot the puck on MAF, he's the weak spot, why aren't they doing it? Facepalm

Also, the next time Spezza does one of his idiot blind passes and turns over the puck, he better show a crazy effort to get it back, this is the playoffs, you don't get another chance.

That period was a lot better, the first period was bad news. The Pens are so much better structured though, it's amazing how quick the Pens would dispose of the Sharks. 5 games max.

Not to fuel a fire here, because I really don't want to, but would people trade Spezza for the 1st overall pick this June?
