Why even bother having a PK?

People complain about Elliott but Luongo is pretty much on the same level. That guy has made one save the entire series. Most over rated goaltender in The NHL and maybe player in general.

Ill take Elliott at 10% of his salary.

Elliott has a looooooooooooooong way to go before even being up there with Luongo. Luongo is a bit overrated, but he has probably the most pressure in the league and he still gets through it. He's definitely still a Top 3-5 goalie in the league.

Did you really just compare Elliott to the gold medal winning goalie?

Yup, Id rather have Elliott at 750K then Luongo at 12 years and 6.7 per year. Absolutely.

Luongo is showing in this playoff just like last years how truly over rated he is.

His numbers are slightly better then Elliott's in the playoffs and he is playin gin front of a way stronger team.

Ummm, no he doesnt. He faces the same pressure as every other goaltender in a Canadian City, he's no different. I dont think there is any shot Luongo is a top 5 goaltender in The NHL. Top 10 is stretching it.

Miller, Lundqvist, Kipper, Bryzgalov, Ward, Brodeur, and Renne are all better goaltenders, all of them are way more consistant and give their teams better chances to win. Luongo is on par with Nabokov, Vokoun, Fluery, and maybe Quick.

Luongo isnt a special tallent, he isnt carrying any teams through the playoffs, and right now in all honesty, he is getting out played by Quick. The guy got lucky that Brodeur choked are in The Olympics because otherwise he wouldnt have gotten a shot. He let that Canadian team down two times in the semi's and the finals letting in late goals. The Slovaks almost tied it up based on his crappy goaltending and against The U.S he was average at best, still let in a late goal. If there is one goaltender in The NHL that wilts under pressure, it's Luongo. Last year's playoffs are another great example of that.

^I'd put Fleury ahead of Luongo.

You can make an arguement for it for sure, but Luongo is not a top 5 goaltender in The NHL, that was my point. A guy like Rask could be thrown in there too, he's a fantastic young goaltender and is showing how good he truly is... another nightmare for Ottawa over the next 15 years.

I've always thought Luongo is overrated, he's a good goalie but he's not some phenomenon in nets.

But I do think he has far more pressure, when you look at his salary and the fact he's the captain of the Canucks I don't think there's a goalie in the NHL who isn't in the spotlight as much as he is.

I'd put Varlamov in there as one of the best up and coming goalies as well. The kid's fantastic and he's a treat to watch.

Luongo's been awful. The Canucks are going nowhere unless he wakes up.

Bad. That's a gargantuan cap hit for Heatley. They should have kept Michalek, waived Cheechoo and kept Ehrhoff, but Wilson was deperate.

Heatley can still turn things around (he'd better), but right now the Heat is Off.

This is obviously just a wild "what if" and as Spez said above, what if they kept Michalek and Ehrhoff and waived Cheechoo, and what if they were able to add Kessel instead of Boston trading him to Toronto?

They'd have great depth, that's for sure. They'd be a great team. And isn't that the point.

At some point GMs will learn to only award large contracts with NTCs for players based on postseason performance.

Problem with having a lot of expensive star power is it can be shut down by a good team.

It'll be interesting if anyone can shutdown Crosby and Malkin in the postseason.

It's either a case of "The Sens can't shut them down" or "no one can shut them down".

In 2005-06 playoffs, Fernando Pisani had 18 points in 24 games.

And Ryane Clowe is probably one of SJ's best playoff performers.

Fine, he hasn't been living up to expectations in vancouver yet, but to say you'd rather have Elliott only because he makes less money is COMPLETELY ASININE! Man you're killing me!
