We will see how things turn out right now, Im not a fan of his or hate his game, but who knows. I dont have a problem signing the guy but if he doesnt start to show he is physically ready now and work his a$$ off, he will find his NHL career is a short one.

Lee is probably one of the weakest D men in terms of physical strength I have ever seen. Redden has abslutely nothing on him, its not even close.

The Wade Redden of today, or the Wade Redden circa 2005? If you were looking for a successor to the Wade Redden of today, you go it!

Lee is better than talked about on here that is for sure. most D take longer to develop and learn the game. There is a lot to get used to. Not everybody is a Doughty, Bogo, Karlsson, no matter where they are drafted. Just because he was drafted a tad early, doesn't mean we should give up on him. He still has the potential to be a reguler 45-50 point D-man. this contract is one step into the 4 or 5 years it will take to get there for the sens.

While this is full of good points, I can't imagine in what stratosphere Brian Lee can ever get 45-50 points. The rest I agree with though, if he can work hard and learn to be a man, he might be of use.

He's a 1st round bust for sure but it doesnt mean he is not or can not be an asset for The Sens down the road. I have no problem with this signing.

Agreed. Its not exactly the same, but Phillips was a number one overall pick, but it took him a while really to establish himself as a number 1 d-man. Even now, ppl wouldn't really believe he's a number one pick, but there's no way a sens fan wants to trade him at this point. So we can hope that Lee is not a complete bust, he's still never stuck around the NHL for a whole season...now we'll see what he can really do. I still hope he gets traded though Brian Lee re-signed by Sens for 2 years - Page 9 270956

Please never use Phillips and Lee in the same sentance unless it has to do with Phillips carrying his but.

I would trade Lee in a second if it ment moving up in the draft, gaining a pick where Murray loves a player, or taking someone elses forward in the same situation as Lee, IE Jack Skille.

Lee even with a 2 way deal could very well have a tough time sticking in The NHL.

I hate to rag on a player for my team and I hope Brian Lee proves me wrong, but I would MUCH rather see Cowen take his spot and gain some NHL experience.

This is providing Cowen works his arse off to rehab his knee this summer (he will, he'll be in Ottawa with our staff). I've thought about it and I still think Lee gets traded this summer. No room.

We'd be trying to fit Cowen into an already crowded blue line next year, assuming we sign Volchenkov. At a $1.325 million cap hit, no less. Better to let him develop at least for another year, maybe even 2.

thanks. but like i said, give him 4-5 years to reach his potential of those 45-50 points. this contract gets him closer to that day.

He played in an NHL pre season game less then a year after a serious knee injury that takes almost a year to fully heal and recover from. Work ethic isnt an issue with Cowen.

He pretty much cant develope any more at the Jr level, you need to be playing against better players and practicing with them as well. He domiantes in Jr and has for a long time, if he was AHL eligable he would probably play there next year but he isnt. The NHL might very well be the next step for him simply because he is too young to be in The AHL and probably too good to be in The WHL. Should be interesting to see the D group next year.

I agree, all I'm saying is that I'd rather have Cowen developing in the NHL than having Brian Lee logging time. Why? Because I believe that Cowen is better NOW and in the future it won't even be close.

What the heck are we gonna do with Campoli? I assume either he or Lee will be traded this summer, there's really no other way I don't think.

Oh, I know. It still has to be done and done right this summer or he's got no shot, but as I said, I'm confident in Cowen and our training staff. Same applies to Wiercioch, I think he'll have a great summer or training as well.

Brian Lee and Carkner IMO, if Lee is here will take turns coming in and out of the lineup playing with Cowen, Phillips, or Kuba.

I love Wiercoich but like I said yesterday, he has a lot of things to work on and get used to, Cowen is ready for the next jump.

Campoli is better than Lee and he could signed for cheaper with a qualifying offer (?) You better get damn good trade value for that player otherwise just keep him.

There's how I've been feeling ever since the announcement of the signing.

One of Campoli or Lee is definitely gone in the off-season. If Volchenkov leaves, do we sign Michalek or keep Sutton? Will be an intriguing summer to say the least for our d-men. I'm hoping if Volchenkov doesn't sign, we at least trade his rights with say a prospect to yield a bigger return.
