That's a lot for a 3rd pairing guy, but if he's worth it, I'd do it and just move Campoli at the draft.

By "look great" I mean as good as Volchenkov.

Some of the potential UFAs have already been discussed and that 3.75 can be used on them. Hamhuis is the one I want the most, he is well rounded and would make an excellent addition to the back end. If you look at what we have in the back moving into next year it isn't really that bad.
Phillips, Karlsson, Kuba and Carkner are already signed next year. Campoli shouldn't cost more than 1M even if he goes to arbitration. Cowen will be given every chance to make the team and a UFA like Hamhuis at 3.5M would round out a very balanced 7 man group.
That's 15M on a very balanced solid D corps. Weircioch can develop in Bingo and replace Campoli the following year, Phillips gets resigned at the same money he is making now and we are still at 15M for the following season. The ELCs are in consecutive years so we are in control of the D for the foreseeable future.
Of course getting Volchenkov signed eliminates the need to shop for D in July.

Because he's a fool that's lost his mind. It's just awful.

According to various sources we're set at that position.
Looking at next year's cap, it would appear to be either Kelly or Cullen but not both.Phoenix30 wrote:I like the deals but I hope murray is able to resign at least one of them to a 1 year extension at a little less.
