Souray? Visnovsky? Zidlicky was. Corvo (no chance)?
Souray has a NTC and another year at 5.4M. Visnovsky will cost one of our 3D prospects + probably a 1st and we'd have to send salary back. Zidlicky was never available, Minny was going to resign him. Corvo (no chance) is right.

But the question was name some who are available, and I did. Never said at what cost. But they are available. And Zidlicky's name came up quite a bit, you bet people were calling about him.

I'm also having a hard time finding a spot for Foligno when he comes back.

Right now: (not 100% accurate lines)

Michalek-Spezza-Alfredsson
Cullen-Fisher-Kovalev
Winchester-Regin-Shannon
Ruutu-Kelly-Neil
*Donovan/Foligno

and on Defence we likely have Lee/Campoli on the outs.

Surely you can package some of that excess for one better player? Might take more from our end, but still, start shedding some of that excess weight.
Foligno replaces Winchester.
Lee will never, ever be a viable option with Murray in charge.

Also, just because people call about a player doesn't make them available.

It's just a little more spread out here.

Really? I had no idea.

How is our scoring from the LW position? Sarcasm

I think alot of ppl are up in arms because we're expecting to make a splash at the deadline.....newsflash, that ain't gonna happen!!! The only way I see Volchenkov being traded is if we receive a pmd in return + a draft pick. And only playoff teams will take a volchenkov player, and only playoff teams are not willing to part with a pmd, so he's not going to be traded at all. There's no way Murray trades Volchie for just picks or another forward, especially after today's trade.

And Carkner will never sit, it'll be Campoli. In fact, I'm not sure Campoli even is a Sen after tomorrow.

I agree with you that Seidenberg's price tag is a little steep but at the same time we need more then one d pairing that can contribute offensively. We've been having trouble getting scoring from the blue line all season. This move doesn't really help that.

Interesting. How many of those are on the PP?
Only 5 PP goals. Mind you Shannon, Alfie and Fisher have all taken time away from the D on our PP. I think you will see Karlsson get alot more PP time as the regular season winds down.

Wicnhester is then wasted? A sought after NCAA player that signed twice with us and we will sit him because Murray brought people in? What did Winchester do to deserve that? Trade him in that case.

And until Zidlicky was signed, there was absolutely a chance he was traded. Same with Volchenkov. If he signs right now, will you say that there was never a chance he was traded?

Remember, you have at least two PP units, and there should be 4 capable defenceman playing on both lines. Who does Ottawa have? Campoli, Kuba, Karlsson? Is Phillips really a PP guy? Carkner? Sutton?

Winchester is a C/RW, Foligno is almost exclusively a LW at the NHL level. You can trim more expensive players from the roster if you want to make a move.

Fine. You can't have one. It still doesn't change the fact that we are trading a 2nd away for a guy who is a redundant part for one of biggest areas of strength on this team. It's just illogical to me, unless it's a precursor to another move. Knowing Murray's deadline history though, I won't be laying any money on it.

Thank god you've got this board to Wing Dang Doodle on...otherwise lord knows what you'd do to your neighbors dog..

What does this stupidity even mean?

I guess I'm tired of people who b|tch that He doesn't make any moves to help the team. Everyone (and I'm pretty sure you too) said this team needed another dman because Picard, Campoli, Lee wouldn't cut it. No mention of a PMD. You complain because we need top 6 forwards, and moves need to be made, but either A) you're not willing to give up anything of substance to other teams ( and no lee and obrien don't count as substance) or B) you don't like what's out there and expect to just be in on every deal.

Simply put, sometimes GM's don't deal with each other because they just don't want to. YOu assume that Murray has the ability to deal with every GM but in some cases they just don't want to trade to Ottawa.

As for Greb...I want nothing to do with a soft dman who is Russian and an RFA...hell talk about thowing away a pick..what do you do if he signs in the KHL next year?

Winchester isn't wasted, he is depth. You can't have only 12 forwards and 6 D.

Zidlicky wasn't going anywhere until Minny decided they couldn't sign him. So technically he was not available.

Check out what Eklund's got over on HB:

"Tim Panaccio is reporting the Flyers aren't close to anything as of now due to lack of draft picks.

I agree again, however shelf life. The Flyers, like most teams have made their position known to the sellers and are waiting. As of now the price is too high and requires picks. The Flyers have interest in Hamhuis, Cullen and Armstrong. Also Vokoun who is now apparently ready to waive his NTC. Which is huge."

You mean the Cullen we just got? Surely not Mark Cullen?

Winchester is absolutely more than depth though. Why keep him in the box? He should be playing. Hell, many of you feel Donovan should be playing. Ottawa has too many one-way NHL forwards.

Phillips has excellent offensive instincts but he's been pigeonholed into a strictly defensive role. There's nothing wrong with having a forward playing the point, just as long as it's not at the expense of capable offensive defensemen. And that has happened WAY too much this season.

So? Is Sutton garanteed to re-sign also? Could very well retire.
Anyways, I'll wait and see how Clouston is gonna manage this line up.

Only if he is better than someone in the lineup, which he won't be once Foligno returns.

I'm beginning to 100% believe that Phillips is what makes Volchenkov tick - and NOT the other way around at all.
