We gave up both 2nd round picks, jeebus. (Carolina nabbed the other one for Cullen). Are we really that much better?

He's a UFA but one that we could resign for somewhere between 3-3.3. At that he could make up a lot for losing Volchie if we do.

Could there be more to this deal? Is it straight up or is there more to come? I thought that a 2nd was a lot too. Is he a rental or still signed?

If Murray has no one on his radar for the 2nd round, he's not doing a very good job then, or the scouts aren't. There's a tonne of guys that could be great 2nd round picks.

but this guy is 11 years older than Volchie, that is what I don't like, or is Volchie older than that, either way, Sutton is older, like the grit, but let's see if he signs and signs for cheap.

Yeah, older, slower. I'm still not convinced, but I'll refrain from further judgement until I see him play a good 10 games with us.

If they look through who will be there late and they say "no one I would waste a 2nd on, might as well deal it for some depth" what's wrong with that? There isnt a Lehner in the 2nd round every year, at least not where that SJ pick would be, or even Ottawa's for that matter.

Not sure I get this. A 2nd rounder is a 2nd rounder, no matter where it is. It's like saying an Edmonton 3rd roudner is basically a 2nd rounder?

There's a ton of great 2nd round picks that turn out to be pieces of Dung too. I'm in favour of trying to boost a team that's close whenever you're in that position.

While not pleased to be losing a 2nd rounder, the Islanders fans comments have made me feel a lot better.

Well, a + here is that we didn't lose anyone off our roster. The 2nd round pick hurts right now, but maybe we'll forget the deeper we get in the playoffs.

As per Mike Russo, and confirmed by TSN, Zidlicky agreed to terms on three year, 12 million deal.

Zidlicky has extended with Minny. 3years 12 Million.
