Jeff Marek seems to think that Ottawa will be trading for Aaron Ward sometime later tonight or tomorrow.

I hope not - from what we have heard, he's completely useless. And he was on waivers and re-entry waivers already, wasn't he? Wouldn't that have been the time to get him, for nothing? Why give anything up now unless you're the one getting the better deal out of it, like if we got our 2nd round pick back.

It is certainly weird.

Karlsson's ready to go, Campoli is roughly 7-10 days out and we still have Lee up with the team. When Campoli comes back, where does Ward fit in with his $2.5 million contract?

He and Campoli would alternate sitting I would imagine. I'm not really a fan of that move, but I do like our unit and the cost of Ward will be nothing.

Why make that move though? Are we upgrading the D-corps or just making lateral insurance moves? Why not pick up a scrub or just let Lee get some playing time? Why pay a guy that much to sit and watch?

I really don't think the guy coming to Ottawa is Aaron Ward. Just a hunch.

Just as depth I would guess. If Campoli gets hurt again, or Phillips, at least it's not Brian Lee coming in, it's a guy who's been around the NHL for a while. Still, I hope it's not true, I'm not really a big fan.

Get a guy like Seidenberg, or even better as an insurance policy - Sutton. Picking up a 37 year old to play "press box bitch" is ridiculous.

Agreed, I hope we don't. I doubt we do, who is this Jeff Marek guy? Seidenberg is going for a 2nd, I'm sure of it, GMs see his value. So he's probably out. Not sure who we'll get if anyone, but I am unsure about Ward to say the least.

A second is pretty expensive for Leopold, not a big fan of his.
