Did they say on the Hot Stove that we were interested in Svatos? I heard that from someone just now.

They've been kicking tires on him since the off-season GAME DAY: Ottawa Senators @ Toronto Maple Leafs - 7:00pm ET - SAT. Feb 6, 2010 - Page 21 53963

How do we make room for Svatos? Both on the roster and cap-wise?

Haha, I was thinking about this somewhat indirectly. I don't think we should make any moves but once you've gone Karlsson it's tough to go back to Picard/Campoli as your primary puck-movement.

This loss just cemented to me how integral Patrick Wiercioch is to our future.

Yeah, but I thought that talk had died down, there's re-newed interest? Not sure he's the answer. He's quite like Ryan Shannon - not that that's bad, but we need someone who isn't so hot and cold.

For sure. Or Visnovsky now? :crossarms:

I really want Visnovsky so badly! He could cure what ails our team without karlsson...and then with Karlsson? Wow.

But realistically, I'm guessing they go for Kubina. Expiring contract, good numbers. Judging from how Lou fleeced Waddell, how about Campoli + 2nd rounder for Kubina

Edit: Numbers wouldn't add up, and no one wants Cheechoo GAME DAY: Ottawa Senators @ Toronto Maple Leafs - 7:00pm ET - SAT. Feb 6, 2010 - Page 21 489887

Is Thomas Vokoun available? I think maybe Murray would be able to package up Leclaire and Campoli and a few odds and ends and make it work.

An 11 game win streak where our goaltending was practically out of this world, then a dud against a fired up team and we want to bring in a big ticket goaltender? No.

If we make a move for anything, it's for a PMD.

The first 2 penalties killed the rythm, Leafs were forecheking hard on our D and they had a hard time getting out of the zone; and when they did the LEafs tottally owned the blue line. I can't believe how inexistant was our forecheking tonight. I would have put Neil with Fisher and Kovalev after the 2nd Leafs goal but whatever...
Elliott let in a bad goal but really, before that it was a total mess in front of him, Leafs players everywhere and our D were too lazy to clear the crease. After playing as many games in a row, fatigue was inevitable.
When you beat great teams and get dominated by bad ones it means you are a good team. And I think a 5-0 loss is very good for the team, wakes you up better.
I don't think it's a good time to single out any players, so I won't comment on any of them.

Bad idea. Those kind of games happen, let's move on.

It really depends on what you want this team to accomplish this year. Now considering what happened last season, missing the playoffs and the Heatley soap opera, and the year before getting embarrassed by Pittsburgh, I'm fine with the team making it to the playoffs, making it a heck of a series, but if this team were to fall short in the first round I would not be upset. I think with Vokoun in net you are better. Leclaire has been a disappointment in my eyes, and the fact that he gave up a goal in relief effort just doesn't settle well with me.

You don't mention Elliott, who is coming off two consecutive NHL stars of the week. I give him a mulligan tonight as the whole team stunk.

Like I said, if a big move is made, we are much more in need of a PMD beyond Karlsson.

I just don't like the fact we're talking about this after a loss, and 11 wins before that.
We can upgrade this team at all 3 levels but I don't think Vokoun could be had that easily without messing with what good we already have.

Edmonton might take a risk on Cheechoo.

I was watching the Edmonton/Colorado game (boring), but funnily enough Marek Svatos looked really good. I was watching closely, there's nothing wrong with his game, good wrist shot, shifty moves, speed, back-checking.

Tonight perhaps. That's his problem. Here tonight, gone tomorrow.

You think maybe him and Kovalev could work out a schedule ?
