Cuss the Leafs - Michallica

The Skinny
The Senators look to end an ugly streak at the ACC tonight when two offensively challenged teams meet. Puck drop is at 7 pm. Both teams are coming off shutout losses (incidentally Tim Thomas has burned both opponents tonight) and one of them is bound to end their scoring drought tonight. The Senators have struggled in Toronto having lost 6 of 7 since 2008, and have an overall record of 4-7 against the Maple Leafs since then. This game marks the return of Pascal Leclaire who will serve as the backup for Elliott after missing 7 games with a groin injury. Alfredsson, who missed practice this morning, is a game time decision. The Leafs have not scored a goal for almost a week. Is this the hockey god's way of saying 'take that!' for the Colton Orr tackle on Vokoun? Or do the leafs finally settle in their role of perennial suckers?

About Ottawa
Secondary 'scorers' are struggling as Regin and Foligno (who was called out by the GM) need to pick up the pace (combined 0 goals). Defenceman Chris Phillips is a team worst -5 and has struggled mightily with confidence in the early part of the season. Horrible defensive coverage has resulted in many odd-man rushes to opponents. The senators will need to clamp down defensively, otherwise the Kessel train will run wild. Alfredsson is the key here as the sens' leading scorer will be a game time decision.

About Toronto
The leafs have not scored for the past two games, but this matchup may be what the doctor ordered. Leafs have an excellent home record against Ottawa and whooped them 5-1 in embarrassing fashion in game 2 of the season 5-1. Phil Kessel has excellent numbers against Ottawa, but if the leafs fail to score again, it will be the first time in 84 years that they've been shutout in 3 straight. Dion Phaneuf is also looking to redeem himself from poor play.
