I don't see that happening personally. Elliott had the chance to completely take over the number one spot when Leclaire was out for the month and he didn't really lay claim to it. He's been absolutely amazing recently, but I have a feeling the Sens brass will wait to see some consistency before trading Leclaire.

Karlsson/Campoli
Carkner/Picard

Looks ok to me, depends what happens with A Train as well. Wouldnt be in a rush to trade anyone on The Sens blueline yet anyways.

If that's the case then they need to get Leclaire back and find an excuse to get him some games and hopefully get his game back because right now his value couldn't me much lower IMO.

I agree, but you can't keep all the players that are good and worth their salary. Besides, you can't really trade players that are no good and aren't worth their salary.

If you need to save money, you have to consider moving Kelly because there are cheaper options coming up pretty quickly.

Yeah...can't we just trade Kuba and Cheechoo? Ottawa Senators Cap Space 2010/2011 - Page 2 805406 What do you mean no?

I expect Shannon and Donovan to be out come next year. Foligno and Regin should get a 10% raise since they are not yet eligible for arbitration. Winchester will get a small bump. Picard and Campoli shouldn't be paid more than 1M.

I just hope that Murray doesn't overpay Volchenkov. Anything over 3.5 is a waste of cap space.

Lol, I was going to post the exact same thing, trade kuba and maybe leclaire if Elliott takes us far in the post season.

Why get rid of Shannon? Apart from early on in the season when he had come back too soon from his concussion, he's been brilliant in his entire tenure here.

I dont know about Shannon now. At the begining of the year I would have said he's gone for sure, but he is fitting in well on the 3rd line, he's a favorite of Murray and CLouston, and he's cheap. I think he stays.

Donovan, well, I think it is a forgone conclussion.

You wouldn't keep Shannon for 700K a year?

If Elliott is the number one and they think Brodure is good enough to be the backup, then doesnt really matter. At 3.8 mil his worth isnt exactly going to increase anyways. A team like Edmonton, Washington, maybe even a Detroit might deal for him... but he wont fetch a big return at this point.

All this is way up in the air though. Elliott needs to take this team into the 2nd round for that to happen IMO.

I'm not a huge fan, but we might want to give Leclaire a second chance.

Of course we will. He was unbelievable at the beginning of the season, why would'nt we give him a 2nd chance, especially with a new goalie coach coming?

Not so fast though, I think Murray will be watching really close. There are several potentials for trade/upgrade. Kuba, Leclaire, Cheechoo - right there that's close to 12 million dollars.

Leclaire can be replaced by someone making 1 million, so we save ~ 3 million. Kuba can be replaced by someone making 6 million, so we save ~ - 2.5 million, Cheechoo can be replaced by Z.Smith, making 600K, so we save 2.4 million - the buyour, so 1.4 million.

We'd have around 2 million and a legitimate number one D-man.

Sigh...if only it was that easy... Ottawa Senators Cap Space 2010/2011 - Page 2 805406

I'm sorry, but Leclaire was never unbelievable. Good maybe just prior to his face being caved in. The spectacular saves he did make were a result of desperation from being out of position.

He's a keeper though because we need to see how a goalie coach change will affect him and also because every other GM knows how bad he's been this year.

That was in response to people saying that now might be the time to trade him. He was good when he finally got in the groove right before getting smoked by Fisher's shot. He was good at the beginning of the year, in between then he's been marred by horrendous, back-breaking goals, but he has to potential to start the next 20 games and get better and better and better IMO.

Elliott has proven he's more than a capable back-up, but he's still a back-up right now.

What GM in their right mind would take Kuba, Cheechoo, or Leclaire at their current salaries?

Chris Kelly - sell high.

No GM unfortunately. Kuba might have a market though.

Is he is worth keeping for 700K, absolutely. The problem is some other GM will pay him 1M+.

If I was him, I would 100% skip out on all the free agent process if possible. If he tests the market and no GM is that interested, then he might find himself out of a roster spot here in Ottawa.

I would ask for a 3 year, 2.1 million total contract as soon as possible and hope that Murray's down.
