The rankings come out Mondays, so this little 4-1 streak with a thumping of Philly (who recently took the Bs to OT) counts in their calculations. Result: we are still in freaking 19th place (but, hey, that's up 3 spots from where we were the week before). At the same time, the Habs have crept all the way to 11th!!!! This past week they are up 1 spot from 12th. Their record this past week? 2-2, with one of the wins in OT, and one of the losses against Ottawa. So, let me get this straight, they are ranked 12th which, surely, is better than average. Not much, but better. Then they go 2-2 (scoring 3 regulation goals in three of those games) and that is good enough to bring them up one more notch?
I believe that guy's formula includes PP stats, so that explains some of it.

He explains his formula but in not enough detail for my liking.

Diddle formulas and Diddle standings. The only thing that matters is what spot this team is in once the whistle blows at the end of the 82nd game of the season.

Take your formulas and shove them up your arse TSN. We're fine thanks, your power rankings are about as useful as titties on a bull.

I'm convinced TSN's Power Rankings are pulled out of a place the Sun don't shine ....

I think TSN still thinks we're an overachieving team who has no business being in a playoff position especially with losing Heatley, Alfie and Spezza. It must hurt them greatly to have to rank the Leafs lower Laugh1

I don't put too much stock into these power-rankings unless they are favorable to the Ottawa Senators. That's when they are the most credible.

You'll probably have to wait until late March to put any credibility in them then. Ahhhhh!

Even though these rankings don't mean much, at least ESPN is recognizing what the Sens have been doing, moving up the ranking from 22nd to 13th and they mention if Clouston should be up for coach of the year too.

Sportsnet has moved Ottawa from 16th to 11th....

We've converted ESPN and Sportsnet (and I'm pretty sure CBS Sports as well). What are the chances that TSN will be a convert as well?

Dumbest rankings ever. The TSN power rankings are just homerism and fan-boy wishful thinking...having the Montreal Canadiens (2-2-1 in their last five) jump up to tenth from 15th over a team like the Ottawa Senators who are (5-0-0 in their last five) is stupid.

Meanwhile the Red Wings have one shootout win in their last 5 games and somehow they don't drop any spots.

They managed 4 out of 10 points last week and didn't drop.

The argument could go on and on, but it's just easier to say the obvious: the power rankings on TSN are done by a half wit.
