They are only 9 points back of Montreal with 2 games in hand in a wildly inconsistent conference. If they keep their winning pace of late, I think mathematically, they are in.

Montreal is only in the playoffs because of the number of games they've played. Also assuming the Canes keep the pace they're on it would mean they'd finish the season, including their latest 8-2-0 run with a ridiculous 24-6-0 in their last 30 games!!

You don't think that's a ridiculous run? It also means all teams above them will maintain their winning percentages as well?

All that to say I'd be very afraid if I was the Caps.

Which is why I said it would be a ridiculous run. Even if they didn't move more pieces out. It's like when we started talking about Ottawa making it in last season. Had they pulled it off they would have been the hottest team in the East.
