They're also missing half the D-core, veterans who would help out alot. And they're missing the league MVP as they learn to fend for themselves in the playoffs.

I'd say its expected in these situations and they hung in there for two periods yesterday before it all went to hell in the 3rd. It happens in the big leagues too, we just shouldn't be so harsh on them.

Also read that 14 of the players in the lineup are playing in their first ever AHL playoff game... I'm sure inexperience has to play a part in all of this.

Missing those D in Gryba, Hale & D Smith... sure does hurt them.

I'm sure it's a big difference for Greening & Butler to play with Zach Smith at centre.

I think for their time in the AHL they played with Locke... and then with Spezza in the NHL.

Nothing against Zach .. but he is not known to be a highly offense player like the other 2... that has to be taken into account also.

Locke was taking contact again today...maybe he plays?

Potulny is leading the AHL in playoff points with 14 in 7 games. 2 players are tied for 2nd with 10. Keller's in 4th. RocknRoll

Think Potulny gets signed to a 2-way next season? I do. Nod

He'd definitely proving clutch in the AHL, but he showed very little in his (admittedly short) call up to Ottawa. Also, this is not a raw rookie -- he's had 126 games at the NHL level and can score about 15 goals in a full season. For some reason he hasn't been able to stick around.

He's definitely earned himself a contract in Bingo (he's got to be a fan favorite by now) but I'd wait to see what he does in camp before considering a 2-way.

Question: would a 26-year-old go to a development camp?

I don't see the point in signing him to an AHL contract. If he's able to score 15 goals in the NHL, why not have him available as a depth call-up?

Regarding development camp, if I'm him, I'm there for sure. It shows a willingness to improve and, if nothing else, he may actually be able to improve some aspects of his game and find a way to convert AHL success to the big league on a more consistent basis.

We are rebuilding and if we have players whose potential is 20-25 goals then you want to give them ice time over a 15-goal guy.

On the other hand, his AHL pattern is that he nearly doubles his production in the playoffs. Would you like to have a 30-goal scorer as a depth player heading into the post-season? You betcha! Still, I'd like to see what he does in camp.

I was reading up a bit on Potulny:
http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospects/ryan_potulny

He has a history of being "clutch". He is good at both ends of the ice and wins faceoffs. Injuries didn't help him in Philly.

One problem is that at his age he has to clear waivers if sent down to the AHL.

(Double posting to ensure that everyone sees it.)
Red Scarf Union and SensChirp (I think) are organizing a trip to see the B-Town Sens in playoff action. Cost is $90. This includes bus transportation and tickets to the game.

Not sure, but he's questionable apparently. Brust is definitely hurt too, the B-Sens just signed Jerry Kuhn to a ATO.

I was listening to the Team 1200, and apparently Bobby Butler has played 96 games so far this year after the preseason, Bingo, Ottawa, and playoff games. With the coming series, he'll hit at least 100, barring injury. In the eight months of hockey he's played so far, he's averaging just under a game every two nights. Crazy!

Yeah, he's gonna be spent after this. He'll need to take a week or two and then hit the gym, but it's been a solid year. Greening must have played a ton too, same with Condra and Z.Smith.

How the hell can the guy be 5-6 with a GAA under 2 in the ECHL? Don't the Steelheads score any goals? I know it's only the ECHL, but those are some really nice stats.
