I just don't want him in Bingo next year. On the other hand, I *do* want someone in Bingo pushing Lehner. Any goalies you would grab in the middle rounds (3-4) that could come in and backup Lehner and push him? Lars Volden, maybe?

The organizations job is to develop Lehner, him sitting on the bench in Bingo does no one any good. Sure, he needs to be pushed a little but it should be by someone but he and everyone else needs to be reasonably assured that he is the starter down there.

It's not like being a starter in The NHL where there is no where to go but down. Being a starter in The AHL is the start of things and anyone who is o.k with being just that won't make it to the next level.

I agree he's earned his playing time but at what point do you say "he isn't as good as his numbers this year"? Pretty close to that time now because for the last 2 months he has been very average.

I don't think he is an NHL type goaltender, backup or other wise and I have always thought that. I think right now you are seeing exactly why I believe that. I said similar things when he was ridding high.

I have no idea if he could be an NHL goalie or not, but his numbers have been consistently good. Better than a lot of goalies that have been given a legit NHL opportunity.

Joy Lindsay reporting: Sens goalie coach Rick Wamsley working with Robin Lehner alone in one end, getting him ready to face some shots.

Maybe we will see Lehner get the start tonight...

It was a nice little ride while it lasted.

How old was Thomas when he rose from the relative obscurity of being regarded as a career AHLer? His first NHL stint consisted of 4 games for Boston in the 2002-03 season, when he was 28, going on 29 years old (he was born in April of '74). He didn't get another NHL start until the 2005-06 season when he was going on 31.

The rest, as they say, is history.

And, no, I'm not saying Brust *will be* the next Thomas.

I'm slightly disappointed in some of the 'big guns' that went down to Bingo to help them compete, mostly notably Bobby Butler, who...tired or not, could really help the team by sniping some goals.

Only slightly? I think it's a disaster, to be honest.

Either fatigue (possible) or their mind is already in Ottawa for next year in the NHL (as some fans in Bingo seem to imply).

To me that's a cardinal sin. You're mind is on Ottawa, is it? Maybe it better be in Bingo because this doesn't look all that great right now.

I say slightly because Butler has played 100+ games thus far and I can buy a but of fatigue. Plus, the B-Sens are missing the league's MVP and one of their primary shutdown D-men. A final excuse would be that the Monarchs are very, very, very good and the additions of Toffoli and Schenn are making it very difficult for the B-Sens to do anything positive - except keep it close, last night's score was BS, it was much closer than it sounded.

Once you've tasted the NHL... everything else just doesn't compare...

Wink

Fatigue has to be a factor...

I wouldn't be too harsh on these guys. They're young, alot of them are used to one-game playoff matches so the series concept is very new for them. They're also missing half the D-core, veterans who would help out alot. And they're missing the league MVP as they learn to fend for themselves in the playoffs.

I'd say its expected in these situations and they hung in there for two periods yesterday before it all went to hell in the 3rd. It happens in the big leagues too, we just shouldn't be so harsh on them.

Definitely. They don't deserve to be crapped on, that's for sure. Just want to see them chip in offensively and succeed - because this is a perfect time with Greening, Condra, Smith, Butler etc. still there to add offense. Locke's loss is catastrophic right now - he's skating right now, taking contact. There's a chance tonight...

More than likely that Lehner gets his first PO start tonight.

As per Coach K: Kleinendorst says it's "more than likely" Robin Lehner will make his first pro playoff start for BSens in must-win Game 5 tonight.

Also read that 14 of the players in the lineup are playing in their first ever AHL playoff game... I'm sure inexperience has to play a part in all of this.

Missing those D in Gryba, Hale & D Smith... sure does hurt them.

I'm sure it's a big difference for Greening & Butler to play with Zach Smith at centre.

I think for their time in the AHL they played with Locke... and then with Spezza in the NHL.

Nothing against Zach .. but he is not known to be a highly offense player like the other 2... that has to be taken into account also.
