Amen, I cannot stand the loser point. It creates such a false sense of parity. Not all 90 point teams are equal.

especially if one of those 90 point teams has 10 SO losses, worse point ever.

anybody know what's going on with MA Bergeron? He may be horrible defensively, but he can sure rack up the points.

Cody Hodgson's back injury (bulging disk[s]) may be worse than thought...

Notable action thus far:

6-1 Washington, Ovechkin with a goal and two assists giving him 6 points on the year. Backstrom has 5, all assists.

Caps only have 20 shots on goal, so you can imagine how the SV%s look for Toskala and Gustavsson.

4-2 Atlanta, Bogosian and Kovalchuk have goals (big surprise) and Evander Kane has his first career NHL assist. Marty S with both goals for Tampa.

At the start of period 3 in New Jersey, the Flyers have a 3-0 lead. Emery is in nets. Some re-entry into the league he's having thus far.

Carter and Richards again have the goals, Laperriere has the other.

The New York Islanders are leading the Penguins 2-1. John Tavares has his first NHL goal, and first NHL assist. Crosby with the goal for Pittsburgh.

Cam Ward is not backing up his new contract very well at the moment. The Bruins are taking out their loss to the Caps on the 'Canes. 6-1.

Avs are off to a great start. This Craig Anderson is the real deal... for now.

Anderson is looking great, but I can't see him carrying this team all year. The Avs lack depth in a big way.

Yotes beat up on the Kings in their own house! WOW! And the Kings got boo'ed off the ice.

Wow, that early in the season? Expectations are high it LA-LA land it seems. It could be a long year if they don't make the same steps Chicago, Columbus, and St. Louis made in the past couple of seasons.

Although I like his leadership, I don't think Ryan Smyth was the right acquisition for the Kings' on-ice product.

Victor Hedman also had his first NHL point last night.

So the list from last night is Tavares, Hedman, Kane, Karlsson, Del Zotto (I think, definitely his first goal), Ferriero, and Demers.

Duchene and Stalberg already have their first points.

I think the signing makes sense for LA. They're a bit light on veterans, and Smyth will come in and Alfie that team up.

Right now, I'd put him at the same level as Auld.  Remember Auld early on last season?  Let's see how he looks after 30+ games.  He could very well be the next Tim Thomas but he could go the opposite route as well.

No sir, that would have been Dany Heatley.

Teams in the West should be wary of the Yotes now that Tippett is coaching them, I fully believe that. They'll have full structure now and an attack based system for their youngsters to excel in.

How long is JP Dumont out? He got a nasty hit to the head and had to be helped off apparently.
