They're going to have to be very careful with him. Reminds me of Pat Lafontaine. So sad.

3 game suspension for Glencross for that hit.

At the 1:22 mark, does Glencross get a fist pump from one of his teammates? That would be bad news.

Legace will sign with Hurricanes today.about 1 hour ago from mobile web

Not good enough for the Blues (they waived him) = good enough for a team with 7 points?

I don't understand how this can help really. If they were serious about salvaging their season, I would have expected an actual trade.

Best of luck though, I still like the Canes (I'm not sure why, I think Staal's a punk).
I think they're just trying to "get through" these injuries and what not. It's a two-way contact... so he can be sent down.

@Shabbs> Exactly. Interim, low-cost ($500K pro-rated for the year), no-risk.

Legace gets the job done for the time being...meanwhile Rutherford tries to figure what, if anything, he can do to help the team personnel-wise.

As Rutherford said, he may simply have put too much stock in veterans, and not put enough young talent into the mix.

It doesn't help that Brind'amour looks like he's done.

Drury is okay. He could play Thursday.

Dubinsky is badly injured obviously. 6-8 weeks.

That's good news for Drury, as much as I could care less about that team, I don't like to see guys get concussions like that. Especially as often as he does. He better be careful though, they should rest him for 1 game at least. That's just my opinion though.

For sure. And do the usual battery of tests on his noggin.

I was just thinking before reading about Legace, that the Canes and Leafs should talk about Toskala.

Just kidding department, from Sports Illustrated:

Alex Ovechkin says he was joking when he told a reporter over the weekend that he could be out more than a month.

The Washington Capitals star practiced lightly Monday and said he would actually miss about a week.

He hasn't played since leaving a Nov. 1 game against Columbus after he was hurt in a scrum. The Capitals said last week that Ovechkin, whose 14 goals and 23 points lead the team, was week to week with what they called an upper-body problem.

Ovechkin, who was quoted by Yahoo! on Saturday night as saying he could miss four or five
weeks, insisted his left shoulder was not affected by the still unspecified injury, animatedly flexing the joint and telling reporters with a smile, "The shoulder's fine, see?"

ESPN INsider reports that Steve Bernier may have infected Bobby Lu:

Steve Bernier might be a little weaker, after catching the flu and losing four pounds in three days. But he believes he can play Tuesday, so we'll see how he performs.

Meanwhile, he might've passed it on to goalie Roberto Luongo who sat out practice after feeling under the weather, The Vancouver Province reports.

Luongo is also recovering from a hairline rib fracture he suffered on Oct. 24.

Another headshot, another player out...from ESPN/AP this morning:

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Minnesota Wild right wing Petr Sykora has a concussion and is out indefinitely.

Sykora took a hit to the head in Saturday's win over the Dallas Stars. In his first season with the Wild, Sykora has already missed six games because of a groin injury. He has two goals and one assist in 10 games.

Bob McKenzie updates the latest moves...

TSNBobMcKenzie

Fla claims MacIntyre. Arnason and (Drew) Miller on waivers. Mair clears.

Nylander makes the final call on whether he's going to Russia but it looks like he's prepared to do it. Not formalized just yet, though.
