From the AP and the Globe & Mail today, more detail on the Jason Williams injury:

Detroit Red Wings forward Jason Williams could miss two months after fracturing his right fibula in a 5-1 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night.

More likely Martin Biron or Manny Legace.

The Habs probably can't afford to let Halak go right now, no matter what Alan Walsh says.

As Dipietro is set to return before the month is out, I would imagine Biron is expendable for the Isles.

As for Halak, can you imagine the sh!tstorm in MTL if they trade the goalie thats actually winning them games?? Gainey wouldn't last to the end of the calender year...

The media can speculate all it wants, but until it's determined DiPietro is 100%, don't expect Garth Snow to make a move.

The Islanders are in a playoff spot right now with the Roloson-Biron tandem, and that's important future revenue if they can maintain it.

The Halak talk is of similar nature...probably more media BS.

There appears to be some disagreement over how long Ovechkin will be out.

From ESPN:

The Washington Capitals denied a report Sunday that Alex Ovechkin's return from an upper-body strain will take longer than the original timetable given.

According to Yahoo! Sports, Ovechkin said, "I am better. But I will miss four to five weeks."

"The Washington Capitals dispute the validity of this report," the team told ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun.

Ovechkin was injured in a 5-4 overtime loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Nov. 1. He left the game early in the second period and has not played a game since.
Coach Bruce Boudreau said Tuesday that they were hopeful Ovechkin would not miss more than two weeks.

"I think that it's tough," Ovechkin told Yahoo! Sports. "November has just begun. I need to heal up 100 percent and then play. There is no need to risk right now."

Ovechkin did not specify in the report whether a doctor told him he would be out longer or if it was from his own evaluation.

So now we have the hockey media fighting over who's right and who's wrong.

Rangers lose both Drury and Dubinsky, per the New York Times:

Rangers lose Brandon Dubinsky to a possible broken bone after he takes a puck to the arm and, in the game’s first minute, captain Chris Drury to a concussion from this unpenalized shoulder to the head from Calgary’s Curtis Glencross:

Not good enough for the Blues (they waived him) = good enough for a team with 7 points?

I don't understand how this can help really. If they were serious about salvaging their season, I would have expected an actual trade.

Best of luck though, I still like the Canes (I'm not sure why, I think Staal's a punk).

Adam Mair (Buffalo) and Steve MacIntyre (Edmonton) on waivers. Mair's a bit of a surprise to me personally.

I think they're just trying to "get through" these injuries and what not. It's a two-way contact... so he can be sent down.

Yeah, it could work actually the more I think about it. Legace was always pretty solid. The worst thing that happened to him was tripping on the red carpet when Sara Palin was in St.Louis for some event. He hurt himself pretty good and lost the job.

I think Drury's career is over. How many more times can he get concussed before he can't play anymore?

They're going to have to be very careful with him. Reminds me of Pat Lafontaine. So sad.

3 game suspension for Glencross for that hit.

At the 1:22 mark, does Glencross get a fist pump from one of his teammates? That would be bad news.
