(UPDATE- 5:38 PM)- Just got an email from a source that indicated the last Sharks offer may have included Anton Volchenkov moving along with Heatley. Its believed the D-man coming back from San Jose would have been Dan Boyle along with Cheechoo and a prospect.

I think we can dismiss that offer.

If that is a for-real offer, it's time to tell Wilson to go Diddle himself. Seriously, this is not negotiating anymore.

Again, I think the sky will fall in before SJ trades Boyle. That's just me, tho'.
Really? If I get an offer of Boyle, Cheechoo, McGinn, Couture, pick for Heatley, Volchenkov, Schubert then I'm going to give it a good deal of thought. It doesn't do much for our cap, but it does a) get rid of Heatley, b) give us some depth up front, c) get a #1 D-man, d) gets rid of m-fing Heatley......

-Cheechoo really isn't as bad as he's made out to be and is still good for 25-30, when healthy.
-Heatley doesn't want to be here and everybody knows it; thus, bringing his value down.
-Boyle is a home town boy who I'm certain would do everything in his power to bring a Cup home. Obviously the length of that contract is disconcerting...
-Volchenkov is UFA next summer and its fairly unlikely we'll be able to keep him aboard.

Its not the best trade in the world, but its probably the best trade we're going to get, at this point.

you know what? as previously stated volchie not only wil get but rightly deserves a raise. will we be able tpo give em one? m'not sure. so i think wilson "MIGHT" be on the right track. i, personaly, think Boyle could be gold for us. yes, the hometown boy, could want to prove he can do it for us. this is a 50-60 point d-man that usualy plays close to 75-80 games a season and appart from having another freak accident will continue to do so.
so should we do that deal? hell no, should we counter offer, hell yes!
heatley, volchie, picard

boyle, cheechoo, coutureor another top prospect and a 1st.

be mad, but i say get her done.

This never ending stream of rumours has me thinking he's either tapped Bryan Murray's phone or he just makes this stuff up.

I think the trade (when it comes) will be out of left field.

But we'll see.

I'm glad you said it.

I didn't know SensChirp up until 3 or 4 days ago. I went to his site once in the last 4 days ever since this site was posting his stuff.

I haven't gone to HBuzz for about 3 years.

IMHO opinion, after what I have read on this site, SensChirp is just as bad as Eklund, maybe even worse. SensChirp focuses on just one team and he can't get anything right. Eklund at least spreads his junk around.

For someone who focuses on one team like SensChirp does, get a clue once in awhile. 🇬🇬

I used to think Chirp was just some idiot with no connections and I'm still fairly convinced he has limited legitimate, inside info, but he is, at the very least, a very solid Sens blogger.

Having paid close attention to his blog since its inception, I can comfortably state that I don't believe Chirp intends on deceiving. I believe he used to have some legit info (evidenced by his breaking of the Heatley/Hossa trade) but I also believe that Murray put an end to that last fall with his apparent 'gag-order'.

Now, Chirp simply passes along what he hears, focusing mainly on actual Sens news. He still dips into the rumour mongering, but not nearly to the extent seen in the last few days/weeks. That being said, this is hardly a standard off-season in Senators land...

Over time, I've grown to appreciate Chirp as a blogger. Give him a chance, I believe you will too.

yes i think so. at least shubby can do double duties as d-man and foward. i think i prefer him anyways as a foward. plus his contract will be over this after year. picard really didn't impress me last year. his reaction time gettign the puck and acting on it on the PP was ridicoulous. i think it killed our PP alot last year and may be the reason for us not having had chances to score.

so no, i don't like picard

You can like Schubert as a forward, but he simply doesn't want to play there. That's a dead weight contract right now in my opinion. Picard is certainly valuable to the Sens in the right situation. He got the puck on net alot IIRC this past season. He's a guy who helped our PP for sure.

I don't know why so many people dislike Picard. He impressed me more than Schubert AND Lee

Is anyone else worried about the last trade rumour from Senschirp? Basically the way I see it is:
Boyle for Heatly straight up
ChooChoo and a prospect for Volchie.

A little one sided? (for San Jose)

People seem to forget (or completely overlook) the fact that Picard hasn't played a single game under Clouston. So its funny when they talk about their opinion of him in contrast to their opinion (formed almost entirely on their most recent impression - i.e. under Clouston's system) of other players.

Fact is: we don't know what Picard is actually capable of. I certainly wouldn't list his potential being anywhere less than Lee's. I also wouldn't say Lee is more NHL ready.

I just don't understand the desire to get rid of Picard, at this point. It's illogical.

Thanks Cas, I appreciate this.

Maybe I will start to check out his blogs, but right now I can't take the stuff he is spewing out.

The one thing that strikes me in your post (I tried to bold it), he posts what he hears? Where is he hearing this stuff that he has posted recently? I can understand the odd thing, but to hear all these teams and names. Come on, don't you have some integrity? Sources such as the magic 8-ball, old tennis shoe, photo albums and old hockey collection don't fly with me.

You can't snow the snowman!

When the season starts and Heatley is still on our team, I may check him out because by then, hopefully poeple will understand that Heatley will be in Ottawa for the first 60 games at least.

seriously .....although in my heart of hearts I think Atrain's going to be moving on this year as I think he might want a big raise for all the bruises he's gotten shielding our goalies from working....

just a feeling....

Yeah, no way I'd do that. I thought the Sens wanted to shed their big salary.

Boyle's damn good, but no chance I move Volchenkov in any deal.
