Can someone explain to me why Minny feels it needs to make a play for Heatley? Especially after acquiring Havlat...

POLL: What will happen with Heatley?

From a Minny perspective, I can see that adding Heatley while keeping Koivu and Havlat would be ideal... they would end up with a sweet offense with those three players.SpezDispenser wrote:shabbs wrote:Can someone explain to me why Minny feels it needs to make a play for Heatley? Because they're still offensively challenged?

But I can't see Murray not asking for Koivu in return.
And if they moved Koivu, are they really that much better off without us sending some other offense along with Heatley?
I guess I'm just trying to play Chuck Fletcher...

I guess wilson couldn't find any takers for Cheechoo, if he indeed was the stumbling point of the whole deal.

Not really because he would still have to deal Cheechoo to sign Kessel and still be left without a backup goalie.
Silly Ek.
You and Chuck have some secrets?SeawaySensFan wrote:That'll be tough unless you're wearing womens underwear...
I kid.

I just want to see if I have to keep monitoring this closely all evening or if I will have to call it quits until Monday again if it's not completed by a certain time.

The league only has time deadlines when they have a deadline themselves. Examples: Trade deadline day, Christmas Freeze, etc.
There is no time deadlines to be concerned about right now. A trade could happen at 3:23 AM EST.
But seriously, do not monitor this closely as you say, you will be in for a big disappointment. Nothing is happening on the Heatley front.

It sounds like the San Jose Sharks are making another pitch for Heatley this afternoon.
The offer will once again include Jonathan Cheechoo but has apparently been restructured and now includes a different Sharks blueliner.
No word yet on the Senators reaction to the latest offer.

Any thought on which blueliner it has been changed to? Anyone?
