read over at spector's hockey that Tanguay to the Avs is a no go, not many specifics as to why, but their beat reporter shut down that rumour right away.

It's funny because I remember a lot of scoffing when Ottawa acquired Heatley. Many thought he would never fully recover from his injuries. So Ottawa essentially rescued him and his career and now he wants to stick it to them? WTF?

It's probably the whole superstar mentality. He probably felt Murray was trying to play hard ball or strong arm him into a deal before that July 1st deadline and this is Heatley's way of saying - I may want out but I'm still leaving on my terms and just to prove it to you now you can eat that 4 Million.

I would like to see Murray keep him here for the beginning of next season at this point.

I agree SSF. At this point I say don't move him and let him sit out. I don't think Heatley's giant ego would allow him to come back to Ottawa. He'd prefer to wait it out even if it costs him 4 Million this season.

It would cost him the full $8M. The "bonus" is just an advance on his 2009/10 salary, and if he is suspended you'd better believe they'll sue to get the $4M back.

I highly doubt you will see him sit out. I honestly don't think he is going anywhere now and think they are plotting the best way to save some face and gain the fans trust again. Can that happen? I really don't know.

would be a blessing in disguise that way, he doesn't taint our young guys like Karlsson, Weircioch, Regin that are invited to the big camp.

I think the Ottawa fans would be a little pissed off....

I don't think Dany will sit a a year or two and wait for this to be resolved, I expect to see him in training camp in Ott.

I think a lot of this is the ego of his agents, he needs to fire them and release a public statement.

People are ridiculous to be honest. In a league with only 7 different 50 goal scorers in the last 6 years, it'd kind of hard to believe that when one of them comes onto the market, that there would be no interest for him.

This is a case where a GM isn't going to make a trade for the sake of making a trade and lose out on the value of something as rare as a franchise defenseman, number 1 center or franchise goaltender.

We are trading away a franchise player, regardless of his personal and public issues right now. And, we have a GM trying to get a franchise return for him, but might have to compromise just a bit because of the mess this has become.

I'm sure if he was willing to give him away for spare parts, we might have had a trade done the day after it was leaked he wanted one.

we can definitely hope it turns out that way, I know his attitude has a lot to do with this, Hextall said it all, 4 coaches, 3 teams, had problems with them all, but it doesn't seem to bother Edmonton, if a team is desperate enough for a goal scorer, you make the necessary move, Quinn would be keeping Heatley on a short leash when it comes to being a prima donna.

Is the city of Edmonton that different from the city of Calgary (where Heatley grew up, I believe)?

Or is Heatley afraid of having another coach that will put his feet to the fire?
