Bryan Murray's draft record is pretty damn good looking at those numbers. I wish they listed by round of draft how many players went on to play in the NHL/200+ games...would be a good way to gauge how accurate his first round picks are and how he's done in the latter stages of the draft as well.

Fantastic stuff though...thanks for posting Bass.

Good thing, then, that Redden is not a Muslim. That would seriously cut into his street hockey career.

The true value of a GM is not the draft record, but the team. Team scouting is responsible for finding gems; the GM is responsible for arranging those gems into a crown -- or a ring. Holland has done the best job at that.

I'd like to see them arranged in the shape of a CUP.

Gotta say, after all I've read on Kadri in the last 24 hours, I'm starting to see why he's inching his way up the draft.

I haven't been a huge fan of his game, but I have to say that he interviews really well... The depth of his character seems to shine through.

I know a lot of Muslims and I can't honestly say I've met one who adheres strictly to all of their religious requirements. If thats true about him, then it says way more than his game ever could.

Right now, I'm 50-50 on him: I'm not exactly clamouring after him, but I could deal with him being our #1 pick.

We're in luck!!! I'm really bored right now... I should be looking for a sublet in Toronto for the summer, but instead, I'm going to do this. Yay procrastination!

What's interesting though is that apparently they don't have all of Murray's GM experience, as he was also GM of Detroit from 90-94. I'm going to go do some research and get back to you on this... Check back later...

I'd be really excited with Kadri if we got him. Him and Foligno could be a second line duo for the next decade.

Ramadan was in September last year. I was a frosh leader and we had muslims dropping of dehydration constantly. They couldn't eat or drink during the day (except for the extreme cases). I can see how it would be a factor.

Bryan Murray's Draft record: (only going to include relevant players who have played over 200 games)

Round.Pick - Player - Games - Points

Detroit:
1990:
1.3 - Keith Primeau - 909 - 619
3.45 - Slava Kozlov - 1127 - 827
7.129 - Jason York - 727 - 229

1991:
1.10 - Martin Lapointe - 991 - 381
2.32 - Jamie Pushor - 521 - 60
3.54 - Chris Osgood - 710 - 19 career points
4.76 - Mike Knuble - 820 - 429

1992:
2.46 - Darren McCarty - 758 - 228
10.238 - Dan McGillis - 634 - 238

1993:
1.22 - Anders Eriksson - 552 - 171

1994
(Murray fired by Red Wings before draft, and hired by Panthers after draft)

Florida
1995:
1.10 - Radek Dvorak - 976 - 502
4.88 - Daniel Tjarnqvist - 352 - 90
7.166 - Peter Worrell - 391 - 46 (1554 PIM)
8.192 - Filip Kuba - 602 - 247

1996
1.20 - Marcus Nilsson - 521 - 168
3.65 - Oleg Kvasha - 493 - 217

1997
2.47 - Kristian Huselius - 547 - 365
4.95 - Ivan Novoselstev - 234 - 75

5.117 - Jaroslav Spacek - 701 - 303

1999
2.40 - Alex Auld - 183 - 4 (only included b/c he's on the Sens)
3.70 - Niklas Hagman - 546 - 207

2000
No one makes the cut.

Fired from Florida in December, apparently, for refusing to fire his brother, then coach, Terry Murray.

Anaheim (Hired as GM, May 2nd, 2002)
2002
1.7 - Joffrey Lupul - 372 - 211

2003:
1.19 - Ryan Getzlaf - 297 - 270
1.28 - Corey Perry - 286 - 195
8.250 - Shane O'Brien - 234 - 47

Ottawa (Bryan Murray hired June 17, 2007, 5 days before the draft)
Obviously, no one has played 200 games yet.

Thus the breakdown per round for players who have played in 200 games ore more:

Round # = # picks, 200+ games ... of ... Total picks BM had that round

Round 1 = 8 ... of ... 11
Round 2 = 3 ... of ... 9
Round 3 = 5 ... of ... 18
Round 4 = 3 ... of ... 15
Round 5 = 1 ... of ... 9
Round 6 = 0 ... of ... 10
Round 7 = 2 ... of ... 10
Round 8 = 2 ... of ... 12
Round 9 = 0 ... of ... 11
Round 10 = 1 ... of ... 4
Round 11 = 0 ... of ... 4
Round 12 = 0 ... of ... 2

All rounds = 25 ... of ... 115

Conclusion: Draw your own... But it appears the Hockey News was a little off...

He drafted a lot of guys who played a lot of NHL games and won a lot of Stanley Cups.

EDIT: After further review of his draft record, I'm very excited to say the least. His success rate in the first two rounds gives us much hope considering we could potentially end up with 4 draft picks this year, at the very least 3.

Anyone know much about his London days and how his religion affected his game, if at all?

Apparently that was a question raised at the combine and he advised it wouldnt affect his game. If memory serves me correctly this issue had also come up at the beginning of his junior days. He had a choice to make and things appeared to have worked out.
