So much for him being out 4 - 6 weeks eh? Incredible. Not only does he come back and play well he scores a goal to go with his 2 helpers. I was thinkin' he was coming back too early and was going to be playing hurt.

I know it's only one game and he seems to have his way with the Habs but it's certainly a good sign.

He looked great too. What a player.

Alfie is the Maaaannnnnn!!!

Since his rookie season, only Sundin, Selanne, Sakic and Jagr have put up more points in the NHL. He was third in the league in scoring over the past decade while captaining a team and consistently being its best defensive forward.

In 2006, he was an Alternate for team Sweden and led the group in scoring en route to a Gold medal even though he was on the checking line.

He's led the league in playoff scoring in 2006-2007 and was robbed of the Conn Smythe.

I'll bring this up again (I asked the question in the GDT but I think everyone missed it):

Why Lidstrom, why not Alfie? Not that we know for sure one way or another. Alfie has been Captain longer than Lidstrom (longer than any current serving Captain, in fact) so why not give him the 'C' in what most likely will be his last Olympics?

Lidstrom has captained a Cup winning team, has tremendous respect amongst players. I think if it was any other situation Alfie would be captain, but right now, IMO, the Swedes are lucky to have Lidstrom as C and Alfie as an A.

I guess it has something to do with Lidstrom being the greatest European player of all-time.
