Let's face it - finding a top winger is a lot easier than a top center. It is also obvious that the Sens need to clear space. Heatley moving at the draft to another team could be a big thing.

Well, the return for Heater should be pretty good. Maybe this will end up being better for the Sens in the long run.

I'm shocked though.

But, if he doesn't want to be here... then so be it. BM's phone should be ringing off the hook... hopefully he can find a team that can take his contract and offer up some high end assets.

I guess this is where the Heatley for Phaneuf rumours are coming from....

I sure hope it's not Salary coming back. Give us a high end prospect and high first rounder. TGWM's Idea looks good to me. Filatov and a first for Heatley. Then we have room to get in the bidding for Jay Bo.

Spezza still isnt a top center, but if Heatley has indeed asked to be traded and finds his way out of Ottawa, Spezza now has a lot of room to grow without hand cuffing The Sens.

His crutch his gone, the cap will no be an issue, and maybe, juuuust maybe he takes on more of a leadership role with the team getting a lot younger and him being counted on more. I'm very much excitted for Spezza if this gets done because it's almost like a fresh start.

This is now Spezza's biggest opportunity to show what he wants to be. This is now a time for Spezza to lead a young group of forwards and help them develope and become real NHLers.

It is indeed one extreme to the other for me because this solves a lot of problems THE SENATORS have and there is no need to now move Spezza, none.

Wait, Emery? You guerenteed he would not be back in the NHL next year and he would not make over $1M. The Philly deal is reportedly $1.5M for 1 year. Next year.

When I said he wouldnt be back in the NHL "this year" it was in the context of the season which was being player, not the calender year, it's hockey.

If I'm off by .5 mil in a 1 year contract, I'm ok with that. I ment I was more or less correct about all the BS off the ice and behind the scene's.
