What...how is this the blockbusting story to end all stories?

Dammit! I thought there was something more to it. Demers and the other nerds on The Chamber or whatever looked like someone had shot their cat.

Things to think about:

Do you ever reunite Heatley and Spezza now, or do we finally have enough options (Shannon, Foligno, Vermette, Alfie, Fisher, Winchester) to split them up permanently?

Is Clouston seeing how Fisher and Heatley perform together - we already know that Vermette and Heatley are good together from the PP? If so, does he not like what he sees in Spezza? If so, would he recommend Murray trade him?

These are the diddling things that go through my mind when we're down 4-0. Smile

Counting down to March 4th, Coach Clouston, has, we can be sure, been taking copious notes and sharing them with Bryan Murray.

Alfredsson's absence actually makes it easier for them to do an objective evaluation. Who does, or doesn't step up during the next week to ten days (or however long Alfie is out), will be clear to management.

The Canucks game put the spotlight on the areas the Senators need to address: a first class goaltender; a cohesive, mobile defence corps that supports the transition game; and a balanced attack.

Finally, that intangible--leadership--part of the 'hate of losing', that Coach Clouston has talked about, is mission critical.

If a team doesn't have those sorted out--they don't have a shot at the big prize.

The first class goaltender is not a must have IMO. The other areas I agree.

Marakh, I know you will say the Detroit Red Wings, but name me an elite team without a first class goaltender.

When the Senators have a team the equal of the Wings, they can be forgiven for not having one.

Agreed?

Ah, you're not alone Heater. I almost puked watching last night's tilt.
While for the last month or so, a LOT of my sources were quite adamant that none of the big contracts we're going to be moved, I must say that as of now, I'm not so sure...

God help us if the Habs blow us out of the water, then you'll see the fans turn on these guys REAL quick.

How in the hell do they go on a mini-tear and then lay that egg last night...AT HOME of all places?!?!
Seriously, are they tuning out Clouston already!?!

You don't think the physical and emotional exhaustion of the road trip and the loss of Alfredsson is a more simple explanation?

They are not tuning him out. Exhaustion is a lame excuse. Kuba and Spezza were horrible last night, and Lee was not as good as he has been of late. Add to this that Vancouver has been playing very well of late and it adds up to a loss.

It's tough to win when your leader and maybe best player is out along with your #1 Dman and #1 Centre playing like complete garbage.
