Campoli and Lee need him for next year.

Again, word is Murray is working his a$$ off to sign Karlsson this week, for next year, if that happens, Lee will be part of a package.

Campoli looks like a solid puck mover and Karlsson will be, but we cant let the blueline get too small now, thats why a guy like J Bo is needed. Campolli does look like he has A LOT of potential though.

I get your point but I am not too sure there is an Ovechkin in this draft. It is a strong talent poolbut I am not sure Hedman or Tavares = Ovechkin and we probably won't finsish in a spot for either without trading up.

Does it matter that there isn't an Ovechkin in the draft?

The players you listed are still guys you can build a franchise around. I'm not concerned about losing out on the Hedman/Tavares sweep-stakes because frankly I can't see us finishing bottom-2, but considering the changes this team is likely to undergo I would certainly rather lose a game or two more and end up with and end up with a guy like MSP rather than a Dmitry Kulikov.

MSP is going to land in Ottawa, haha, I just know it.

We'll get a top 7 pick, it's not even a doubt anymore. No way we'll beat SJ, Calgary, Boston, Montreal, Florida... especially when Bryan Murray will sell for picks at the deadline. We will play around 0.500 hockey and the other teams above us will play similar if not better. We will be above Toronto and may be 2 teams in the west at best.

3-4-5-6-7 = Duschene, MSP, Kane, Schenn, Cowen
We fall at 8th, there is still Shroeder,
We fall at 9th, there is Kadri. Not as awesome, but still LOTS of potential.

Bottom line is there is no way I will be disappointed after the draft.

Oh ye of little faith. Razz

I was high on Schroeder for a long time having watched him at the WJHCs, but the more scouting reports I read of him, the less interested I become. It doesn't help that Pat Kane seems to have slowed down as well. Wink

I agree, though, get me any of those first seven picks and I'm happy.

In this case, happiness is quantifiable. Picks 1-2 are right above heroin on the scale of happiness.

I'm thinking Murray have an offer on the table for one of our guys that includes a first. I bet we recoup that 2nd pick, and it's (obviously) going to be higher than the SJ pick.

Stats can be useless at times but I just found this one interesting. Lee has 5 pts in his past 7 games. I just wouldn't have guessed by watching him.

I think sometimes people forget that Lee is only 21. Defence is the hardest position to adjust to when breaking into the NHL. He'll be fine. He may not be a true #1 defenceman in the NHL but he could end up being a reliable top pairing guy if things progress nicely. He's got plenty of tools to do just that. Yes at the 9th spot we could have drafted a better player, such as Kopitar, but hey, Lee was clearly a pick born out of need. If we had the luxury at the time to draft the BPA, we'd have taken Kopitar.

If we are trading a young D-man at the deadline along with Schubert (who I think will be waived this week), Picard should be the one to go. He makes Lee look like Larry Robinson by comparison. With Campoli coming in and looking like a nice fit, I think we can deal Kuba for a 1st. Yes, I think he is worth that, particularly if Nieds decides to stay in Anaheim, and there is generally a shortage of PMD come next Wednesday. I'd also like to see Bell retained as the 7th man. He's earned another contract in my opinion.

Campoli definitely has fit in well, 3 assists in 2 games and will be doing wonders to wake up our stagnant power play, love the play I saw last night where Campoli drove the net after passing off the puck to a forward, that is exactly what Ottawa is missing, a D-man that isn't afraid to join the play.

Can't agree with you here Hemmy. Why didn't they pick the best player available that they needed?

Guys like Luc Bourdon, Marc Staal and Ryan Parent were all ranked in the top 10 North American picks, yet they go from way out of left and pick up Brian Lee. At least when they picked Daigle, it was recognized league-wide he had potential to be a superstar. This was perhaps the biggest flop in sens draft history.

I would for one definitely welcome that draft pick, maybe then Detroit won't have the monopoly on great swedish players lol.

One question I am interested in knowing your views on...why is Alfie playing with a fractured jaw when the Sens are, for all reasonable intent, out of a playoff spot? Is it really worth him risking further injury at this point?

Because if the Captain packed it in even though he has shown he can still play then it sends the wrong message to the team. Unfortunately, in that room they have to play out this season as if they have a shot at getting into the playoffs right up until the math tells them otherwise.

Plus he's been cheesed out of 2 points in the last few games. He definitely touched the puck before it went to Vermette who passed to whoever.

It doesn't really matter, but it's worth noting IMO.
