You don't think Boston would match that offer sheet? I definitely think they do.
They are kind of up against the cap. Kessell and Krejci are going to need big raises. And then next year it gets worse.

Actually, that's quite true. They have deep issues coming up cap wise. Yeah...maybe, but wouldn't you rather wait until Lucic is an RFA and shower him with cash?
I want a number 1 centre to replace Spezza. Lucic is never leaving Boston. NEVER. He will never get to his FA years.

I wouldnt touch Kessel with a 10 foot pole, that guy is soft, whiney, lacks passion and is extremely inconsistant.

You don't know that. What's he worth? 4 million a year, 5? I bet his agent fields a ton of calls with teams willing to up the ante to 5.5 X 10. Would he settle for less? Can Boston even match that?

I think there's a lot more to these situations than just 'locking' up a guy.

This is Cam Neely reincarnated. He was born to be a Bruin. I just can't believe he will ever play anywhere else.

Or I could be wrong.

I agree, which is why I go after Krejci - I might even go 5.5 x 6 to ensure they can't match.

I think he'll stay too, I'm just hoping he plays himself into a large $$ contract personally. Smile

This is not thread worthy, but the Flyers just waived an excellent player IMO:

Metropolit was waived today.

I like this guy and his character. I understand we don't need him (Chris Kelly - f off!), but he could be a good replacement for someone (Chris Kelly).

^ Actually, it probably is thread worthy.

Philly must be ramping up to make a move and they're clearing $$ and roster spots.

Talk about Grit... Metropolit would be an excellent piece for a team looking for an extra edge...

Interesting to see if anyone takes a stab at him.

Us. We should take him and trade Chris Kelly. I'm gonna bang that drum as long as it takes.

Chris Kelly or Glen Metropolit? What's the difference?

Been a fan of Metropolit for a long time. He even showed some nice flashes back in his Washington days. We already have too many players to deal with as it is, though.

Steve Begin has just been traded to Dallas for D-man Doug Janik.

Janik's ex-Lightning and ex-Hawks property acquired by the Stars in 2008. The Habs send an unhappy Begin to a team where his grit will be valued and he rejoins ex-Hab Stephane Robidas.

Janik's profile from Faceoff.com:
http://forecaster.canada.com/faceoff/hockey/player.cgi?1951

ASSETS: Plays a smooth, steady game along the blueline.
FLAWS: Has a very limited offensive arsenal.
CAREER POTENTIAL: No. 6 or 7 defenseman.

I guess my proposed 'deal' of Kuba to Montreal is off--darn it!

There goes my lunch at Uncle Eugene's ranch...
