Hedman. Plus, we ship off some of our deadwood, like Neil, who just isn't the same, and Kelly, who is grossly overpaid. In fact, I would jettison almost anyone from the organizatin if we needed to to get this ship going in the right direction. I can't deal with losing if there is no direction like there is right now. Melnyk and Murray need to sit down and come up with an action plan. Either try and make this work now (personally, I don't think it's doable), or do a rebuild. If it's a rebuild, I'd be open to getting rid of anyone except:

Alfie (he decides his fate. If he wants a cup, we deal him)
Volchenkov
Auld
Bass
Foligno (not going great now, but when he sorts it out, WOW)
Erik Karlsson (the only way I'd be open to dealing him - Hedman)
Wiercioch (see Karlsson)

I would move the rest for the right return. I'm not one of the ones however, that wishes to move Spezza, just to move him. I say, wait until the deadline or draft and see where his value is then.

I agree. Moving anyone from the top line (not so top lately) just for the sake of moving them is crazy...Alfie excluded of course. I still find it weird that all of these "character" guys that Murray brought in have yet to change the mentality of this crew. **sigh**

Karlsson could be Rafalski to Hedman's Lidstrom (although I think Karlsson is more like Timonen/Kronwall/Zubov and Hedman perhaps a bit more like Potvin).

I think they'd make a great pairing.

Oh absolutely. It's the only scenario I can see dealing Karlsson. Assuming he fills out and can handle the rigors of the NHL, he's going to be special. If at all possible, I'd want them together for sure.
