Man, how many riot acts is it going to take?

http://www.ottawasun.com/Sports/Senators/2008/12/17/7781486.html
The Senators coach told reporters he's "tired" of the club's lack of
work ethic, and as a result will break up the top line of Dany Heatley,
Jason Spezza and Daniel Alfredsson tomorrow against the New Jersey
Devils.
Should be interesting to see them on Friday.

Quotes like this just have to start sinking in...
"We have (not) been able to create (a work ethic) in the group. That's
the really frustrating part for me because I've always had teams that
worked."
These guys felt "bad" for letting Paddock down and getting him canned... well, things should look pretty familiar... these guys need to knuckle down, check the egos at the door and play as a team.

Obviously not bad enough. I don't think Hartsberg suffers Paddock's fate, but I am starting to think that nothing has changed.

The best thing that might happen to the Sens is Sundin signing in Vancouver, a lot of cap space there with a need for a center. Edmonton mght be looking to shake things up as well.

Edmonton, Vancouver, St Luois, NYI, Atlanta. Those 5 my friends.

How does Sundin signing in Vancouver help us? They'd be losing cap space and filling a need.

What a joke, was watching SC and they were like "Hartsburg really
put the Sens through a tough hard practice." then they went on to say
yah they skated for 12 minutes at the end. ARE YOU
SERIOUS!!?!?!? Should have been doing lighting drills for an
hour.

I will never pay money for a Sens ticket again if they don't put forth
at least an effort and play anything that resembles something of an
entertaining game. Yesterday put me asleep. The only time
there was any energy was after the Neil hit and Ruutu fight, then
what happens??? Oh yeah the put the "BIG" line on the ice and they
don't do anything (not hit, score, skate) exept let ATL play in their
own end for the last 2 minutes of the period.

GG Sens.

I was hoping to hear that guys were losing their breakfast on the ice. 12 minutes...huh...not too big a deal really.

Exactly. I'm shocked this isn't a normal occurrence. I guess the pros just work on powerplays the whole time?
How can you not do skating drills. Seems strange.

12 minutes of hard skating? The way I see it, they owed the coach about 60.

Apparently Hartsburg is splitting all three of the good players up. Very interesting.

Hopefully it's Fisher with Heatley, Vermette with Alfie and Spezza with ______.

Should at least be intriguing.

I'd still argue that Heater should be tried at centre, with Fisher at wing, and maybe Winchester on the other side.

Second line, put Vermette, with Zubov and ?

And Spezza can play 3rd/4th line center for a while.

OK, so let's say Heatley's with Winchester and Fisher and Alfredsson's with Vermette and Zubov.

Who does that leave to play with the guy who lead this team in scoring last season? Chris Kelly and Shean Donovan? Or Jarkko Ruutu and Chris Neil?

It's a start I suppose. Despite my overwhelming urge to want to blow this up, I want to find positives where I can. This team has had it way too easy for too long. Even Murray is on record as saying "I have no doghouse" in his first year here. WHAT?

If we are stuck with this lineup, have them to bag skates during the pre game warmups. That ought to assure us of Hedman. Also, start Gerber nonstop for the next two months. Despite his recent strong play, he will crash. That's as certain as death and taxes.

I'd deal Auld and a 2nd for Raycroft and a 1st just to be on the safe side.
