Both players had 2 years left at similar cap hits. Why would they make a trade just to buy him out?

Less cap implications on buying out Gagner then Purcell. Tampa might be clearly room for July 1.

true but you can't fill up on unlimited Centers. they might not be ideal but they fit in.

watch Coyotes turn Gagner into a 70 point guy.
